Five hour round
Very slow play with people who don't have golf etiquette are with no Marshall to help. The greens have been aerated and sanded but not noted on golf now.
Needs work
Very friendly staff. This course has a nice layout but needs some TLC. The rough was not maintained and the fairways had lots of dead areas. The greens rolled true but had some issues too. We played on a Saturday afternoon and had the whole course to ourselves. Probably won't be coming back as there are many other courses in the Atlanta area to play.
Course need work
Played this course several times, this was by far the worse the course has looked. Difficult finding balls in the fair way, heaven forbid if you just off the fair way, the grass needs to be cut, some of the bookers can use lot more sand. Unless you pay less than $25 this course is not worth the money.
Course need a Little Care
Greens need aerification and grass maintenance on scars spots. Fairways are ok, but sand traps needs a better drainage system and care. Course is open with few good challenges. Is good if don't want to spend more than $25 on a game.
Beautiful course, wonderful round
It was my first time at Highland - my playing partner son has played here many times. The course itself is gorgeous with beautifully maintained fairways and greens. Our only issue was a somewhat slow-moving threesome ahead of us that slowed us down a bit, and the pair behind us also had to be patient as we all bogged a few times on the back 9. That was certainly not Highland's fault! I have already invited my family to play at Highland at our earliest opportunity - it was a wonderful day on the course!
Condition greatly improved
Many improvements over last year. Love the course layout. Very fair. Great value.
Speed Round
I live five minutes from Highlands. At the last minute I wanted to play, you have all had the itch. Off I went, everyone was great, the greens are in as good a shape as any I've seen this year. Thanks to everyone who allowed me to play through. I had a great time from start to finish. I have hit range balls longer than it took me to play that round. I had that feeling that we have all wished for, if I owned my own course without the payroll.
Great value
Course is in great shape! Friendly staff and pace of play was excellent!
Not a good course to play at
Overall course condition very poor . The fairways grass are very patchy. The roughs covered up and Clover and all the greens are eat up.The course staff where very rude.
Pretty Good Bang for the Buck
Good value here for a fun course. Rough was kind of scraggly but greens were in decent shape with a few bare spots. Lots of different twists with varied holes. Give it a try
Relatively Flat but Challenging
Great course for beginner and intermediates, not a pro course unless Gold tees used. Several sand traps and water to make it challenging. Greens in good shape. nice putting green, practice area,
and clubhouse. Staff very friendly.
Come play here
Apparently, the place was getting run down but it looks like new ownership is trying to get it back in shape. The greens were fabulous. Smooth and fast like I like them. Still some weeds or po-ana on some greens, but didn't affect the play. The fairways looked bad from a distance, but were actually really nice. The rough was rough, but hey, why do they call it rough?!? I wasn't in the rough much, I was striping it down the middle all day. Shot an 81because of some dumb mistakes. Talked to manager, he seemed very dedicated to making the place even better. Come out and support him. Thanks to mgmt. for finding my glasses too!
Great Course
I would always recommend this course as a value for the money... I also was lucky enough to be fitted for balls by Bridgestone before the round
Recovery
The course is in pretty good shape A little too much clover in the rough makes it hard to find balls not in the fairway. It stormed during my round and we waited it out . The course drains very well and we were able to continue playing without any problem.
I love this course
This was the best course I have played all year will definitely come back
Terrible Conditions, Nonsensical "No Walking" Policy
This course could be a nice, if fairly easy, course. But it was in brutal shape--particularly the back 9. The greens on the front were, for the most part, in excellent shape. But they've all but lost most of the back 9. Also, the fairways are weed patches--often indistinguishable from the rough, with nothing like fairway grass. The bunkers are hardpan and the tee boxes on the par 3's are pretty close to bare dirt.
Also, there's absolutely no reason for this course to have a restriction against walking. It's not fancy or expensive, it's not at all long or hilly, and there are no long walks between holes anywhere on the course. I'm not totally anti-cart. I have no problem with people riding if they want, but courses like this one have no business forbidding walking.
Challenges shot making
Challenging layout. Stay in fairways to score. On SUnday the pace is leaisurely.
Greens need some major help
the course is okay. The grass was not kept up well on the fairway or the greens. Made the game hard to enjoy. Bunkers were extremely hard. had almost no sand and mostly red dirt.
Apparently 4 hours is too slow
Let me start by saying that overall we enjoyed our round today; the course was in great shape for the money and the staff was friendly. However, we had a pace of play issue. Our foursome finished in 4 hours exactly (9:25 to 1:25). Apparently, this was "slow" enough to warrant a confrontation from the group behind us and a phone call to the clubhouse. The golf shop guy came out and asked us to speed up. We knew he would be coming out as the guy who complained to us said he was going to tattle, so we had already done the math and were able to inform him we were averaging 13:15 minutes per hole... a VERY reasonable pace. When we told him this, he agreed that we were fine and to carry on. I only wish he had gone back to the group behind us and asked them to back off. Our play suffered for the next few holes as result of feeling unnecessarily hurried.
The group behind was pulling their carts up to the fringe on every green, and in one case ONTO a tee box. No wonder they were playing fast. We could play that fast too if we had that much disrespect for the course and other golfers. We conspicuously took a picture of their carts positioned unreasonably close to a green just in case there was another issue but fortunately there as not. They hit into us on 14 green.
I'm sure I'll give Highland another try. I just wish management followed through in handling a unreasonable situation.
