Nice little hidden gem
We really enjoyed our round at Honey Creek. It was the first time playing the course for all 3 in our group, but we all agreed that we'd be returning again soon. The course winds through an older neighborhood with tree lined fairways, plenty of elevation changes and several holes with water in play. For those who tend to spray it off the tee, the fairways are generally wide and mostly forgiving. The greens were in great shape, and ball speeds remained pretty consistant throughout our round. While the tee boxes were generally level, several were worn from use, and lacking sufficient turf. Some fairway areas showed signs of heavy water runoff, but nothing to a point that would prevent us from returning. In fact we're looking forward to returning in a month or so, once the fairways have a chance to green up with spring. It's not a long course, and it's certainly not a resort course. It is however, a fun and very enjoyable course.
Great value
Played this course several times before and is always challenging. It always seems well maintained and employees are always helpful. Will continue to play and recommend it to my friends
Late summer gem
Some of the greens had been recently sanded but the course is in pretty good shape. I would recommend you play this one.
Really improved the greens...like wide open fairways
Greens are much smoother and cut properly for putting..
Fairways are wide open for ease of play.
Honey Creek
The manager kept bashing golfnow patrons said they were the ones tearing up the course. As far as the course the tee boxes and fairways were average but the greens were terrible #18 was the only nice green on the course. Personally I would not be back
Wish I could be more positive
what really killed the rating for me was the condition of the greens. Been a hot muggy summer in Georgia, but on many of the greens a substantial part of the green had been lost. Time and maintenance and better weather will hopefully improve the condition as the layout is not bad.
GREEN!!!!!
Greens were in bad shape, really need to be redone, fairways were ok.
Pro shop manager bad mouthing people who use golf now said they were the ones tearing up the course. As far as the course the greens are terrible not a very good course
IP
Nice layout, greens need work.
Fairways and tees were dry but pretty decent. The greens need help, water at least and they may lose some of them. Very bare and unplayable in places. Haven't played there in a while but never saw the greens like that.
Nic course
The weather was bad but overall was a good day improvements have been made to the course greens are a little thin and still growing i expect this to be a great track by mid summer. Staff was exceptional.
Their BAAAAACK
Played this course many many times starting in the 70s. the last few years it was really disappointing the way it had fallen is such bad shape. Played it today and have to say the new owner has it going in the right direction. The course is very playable and the greens are on the way to being something special. It's a treat go play and have fun.
Getting Remodeled
Great golf course in the making. They are going under renovations right now so you can't play the front nine, and you can only play 7 or 8 holes of the back nine. When the course is finished, I think it will start getting much better reviews.
The practice area could use a little work too. Very short range for long hitters (only around 250 yards). They have a nice chipping area, but the flags you are chipping onto aren't on a green its more of a rough/fairway type of grass.
The sand traps are a kind of hard reddish sand. They play just like normal sand traps however, and I found them much easier to get out of. I saved par twice from the sand traps.
All in all, this course has great potential, they know it, and they are working on it.
Course Needs TLC
This course has been let go by the previous owners. The new owners are promising.
Good course to tighten up your game.
I played at Honey Creek to work on my game because i wanted to get away from the driving range. The driving range doesn't challenge me like Honey Creek.I can find out what a deficiency i need to work on for more challenging courses.
Easy to play, poor greens
Pace of play was good but greens were in horrible shape.
Great value, fun course
Played here a lot growing up, the greens are in very good shape compared to a couple years ago. Short but tight neighborhood layout. Agree with another post, worst part was riding on the cart paths, pretty terrible in several places. will definitely go back again soon!
Nice layout and fun course.
Pretty easy course, fairways aren't very narrow but there are a lot of out of bounds due to houses or thick brush on most holes. One of my favorites to play.
Greens are pretty fast and not many undulations but some are in bad shape. I hope to see them get the greens in good shape in the next spring.
You can get some good deals on GolfNow especially during the week.
Holes aren't to far apart so you can walk this course when it isn't to crowded.
Course Condition
The course condition seems to be Improving every time I go play a round. Great course with 70/30 easy/hard layout. Greens play at at least 8.
This course is has something different
we had a good time but homes were close and a lot of fairways sloped to thickets so balls were lost. We'll go back again. great for the money
Not crowded
Course was in average shape a couple of greens were in rough shape but most were really good. The cart paths are the biggest problem out there, the tree roots have done a lot of damage to them. It would be nice to see those get repaired.
I would play again, I played at a great price.
Worst Golf Course In America STAY AWAY
Most run down golf course I've ever seen. Everything is old and worn out. Golf cart paths, well might as be dirt roads.. Greens are by far worst I have ever seen. Weeds are out of control everywhere! Clubhouse is old and ugly. They should just bull doze the place and start over!
John,
Did you really mean to give this course a 1-star rating even though you give it an 'overall' positive rating and 'recommended" it to others?
