Decay
If you still have good fairways and decent greens, you still have a golf course. And while this course had atleast that, the tee boxes, cartpaths, bunkers, crumbling rock walls, signage between holes (my buddy and I took an unplanned detour down a neighborhood street, finding the ninth hole and working back, instead of finding our intended hole, the sixth.) and the members, need some work. I saw one drive his cart to the green and turned, partially, on the surface. But it was playable for us. Nice and short track. A lot of straight holes. Few blind tee shots. Range balls awful. Long drive to conyers. Plan your I-20/I-285 traffic accordingly.
I would recommend this course to anyone.
Good value for the course. Fairways and green are in good shape. The average par 4 is only about 320 yards. Rough areas need to be cut shorter - you can loose a ball 2 ft off the fairway.
Nice layout and in good shape!
The course was in good shape - greens in excellent condition. Back nine is more challenging with nice layout. Lots of trees and enclosed fairways for the course being located within a subdivision (s). Great bargain as a hot deal - would play it again!
Roughs are HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!
The roughs at this course continue to be an issue.
Great deal for nice course
Greens were probably in the best condition ever - definite upgrade over recent years. Fairways also in great shape. However most of the rough needed to be mowed lower, as we lost a couple of balls in the deep rough just off the fairway.
Grass Clippings
If you made a good shot that went about a foot off fairway, forget about finding the ball because of the grass clippings just off the fairway. Combined with the longer grass of the rough, the grass clippings on top of the rough made it nearly impossible to find a ball if you went off the fairway even a foot. If you're going to maintain the fairway then finish the job and bag up the clippings.
I do not plan to play here ever again.
Course needs attention
The short cut of the rough was so tall you could not find your ball if it just rolled out the fairway. Mowing staff not respectful if you are on the green putting. One mower was mowing the fringe while I was putting.
Outstanding design
This course is very nice, Fairways are like carpet, Big greens, I have played here several times and never really any back-up. Great staff. Some really nice holes that make you really use course management. I live inside the perimeter but I don't mind the drive out to play here. One of my favorite courses in Atlanta
This is a average course with no great features.
I would have like to have known that the greens was sand before booking a tee time.
Beautiful course layout and extremely friendly staff.
The course has become my default course due to the friendliness of the staff and the value for the money. The layout is somewhat challenging and plays fast. the average novice golfer would enjoy playing this track.
Not the prettiest girl
This course is only a few minutes away from where my inlaws live. When you book via golfnow, you can find some super deals. The course itself is quite nice in the spring and fall. The summer of 2013 is the first when I saw an entirely green course. This past year was the best condition that I have seen at Honey Creek. The greens were fabulous, the fairways were neatly trimmed, the sand was nice and soft. I normally put in 18-54 holes here per summer depending on cost and time. 2013 was by far the best year for golf here at Honey Creek.
This course is good for all stages of amateur golfers
This course has very wide fairway. It also has minimal hazards, which means you will not lose that many balls. This is a good wide-open course.
Stay Away
So I paid for the hot deal for this course on a Monday around noon. The expectation was not high based upon what I paid for play. That being said, I had the most horrible golf experience to date at this course.
The front 9 played fine. There is not a 1st cut rough...its all pasture off the fairways. The greens were ok but needed some attention.
The back 9: After my tee shot on 12 i drove to my ball. After playing my next shot the cart was dead. OUT OF GAS. Really? Ok so called the pro shop and they sent a new cart. No big deal.
Made it to 14 and there were middle school kids on the cart path riding bikes and skateboards. Not a huge deal, that is until I got ready to play my shot. They kept moving into the fairways with their bikes then proceeded to follow me for 2 holes. One kid even drove his bike across the green I was pitching to.
Needless to say I left then and there without finishing the round. Will never return.
This place is a joke...
Everything screams old and run down. The cart paths need repaving- sometimes they just terminate right into the fairway, trusting you to navigate through the rough/fairway (though there is little difference) until you can pick the trail up again next to the green. Several former bunkers were now just pits of grass. Every green had a different speed. Half of them were needlessly saturated (it didn't rain the day I played) causing the ball to plug in 5 or 6 greens.
This course wouldn't be worth it if they offered you a free round AND reimbursed you for your gas.
This course needs some love
This course is not pleasing to the eye when arriving. The road in front is in need of repair. The greens are very bumpy and well it's just not maintained. Would only play there at a discounted rate. Could be a great course if someone put some money and time in it.
This course could use some work but it is playable and improvements continue to be made.
This course has gotten better and if it continues to improve then playing will become more and more enjoyable.
the course is friendly to the average golfer
I dont get to play as much as I would lilke, this course was well maintained there was a true rough and fairway difference. The play rate was great finished in 3 and a half hours.
Good course for beginners.
This was a great experience for my daughter who was playing a full length golf course for the first time. We got to fly through 18 holes at a fantastic pace of play and a great price.
