Very Nice Course
I enjoyed the layout and condition of this course. It made for a good challenge, but not overwhelming, for this high handicap golfer. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. I played this course during a road trip to Georgia for a family get-together. All you golfers who are veterans should put this course on your “To Do” list.
fun time
A great layout. Lake Blackshear will benefit from a couple more weeks of spring weather. The bunkers and a few greens need attention. It was a good day.
Terrible greens!!!
The course provides a good layout with challenge. The greens are currently in poor condition due to fungus. Some greens had chunks of sod spread out.
Good to see progress on course conditions. Hope you can keep it up and get the course in superb shape.
Surprising
The course is in very good shape. The greens for winter are good and the bunkers are in the process of being redone, but it didn't impact our play at all. I would totally play this course again.
Great value compared to what I normally pay in Atlanta.
Greens, fairways
Greens are in terrible shape. Haven’t ever experienced greens in this bad of a shape.
Fairways in areas have debris mainly leaves that have not been picked up. I lost a ball in the fairway because of so many leaves.
This course is way overpriced
It's unreal the price this course charges. With the proce they charge it should be in top shape but the greens have bad spots and the bunkers are garbage!
Greens have a fungus or disease in them, many with dead areas. Shame with all the turf farms close to the course.
Great course for slow pace
Great course for a nice relaxed slow pace. Took my wife out for her first course and was nice and open for beginners but also challenging for the low handicap.
The course was good. I booked online and was greeted by a very friendly staff member who was efficient and kind. She was helpful and got us on the course on time and we all had a great time other than golfers who were pushing us from behind. The course also looked like it had been aerated recently but upon further inspection we think it was just ants or some sort of burrowing bug.
The course, especially bunkers and greens, need lots of attention. Practice green was in awful condition. Back 9 greens are in better shape than the front . I have played this course quite a bit over the last 25 years, and this may be the worst I’ve seen them. The value for the money spent is not worth it when putting is such a key factor in scoring, playability and enjoyment.
1st of time experience
I was kind of blown away with the quality of the course and the staff friendliness. I was treated like a regular. I would gladly go back and in fact I am going back in a month and a half on a golf trip. If you get a chance come and play. Course layout was well thought out. Few little problems with thin greens but it has been unseasonably hot in Georgia this summer. Take a break and get away to Lake Blackshear and the Veterans Memorial course. It was amazing!!
Maintenance
When we played on Sunday, the tee boxes, fairways and fringes were in need of a good cutting, the greens were not in good condition. This course has such great potential if upkeep is maintained.
Great course design - in terrible shape currently
Before I say something about the current status of the course, let me say this. I love this course and love the design/layout. It’s a great place to play golf normally
However, the current status of the course is terrible. Half if not most of the greens are in TERRIBLE shape, the fairway grass is so thick, it’s a clubhead deep. We literally lost two balls in the fairway it was so thick. The rough is tough, but makes it fun. The tees need to be cut much lower, because the grass is so thick around the tees.
Overall a great course, it just needs a lot of work
