Just a gem
I'm originally from St. Louis MO.
& who recently retired & moved to FL.. Atlanta is a mid-point stop while traveling to & from those areas. I found West Pines last summer. I couldn't believe the course. It was reasonably priced. Fantastic example of rolling hills GA golf. Course was in great shape. I came here this time to escape Hurricane Ian. Same great experience. The only issues. Green's recently dressed with sand, but they still rolled fast & true. A little crabgrass here & there. But overall, course was in outstanding shape. A muny course that's better than any public course in St Louis. That's why I like it. I'll be back, every chance I get.
Best Muni in ATL
Great course for being a muni! Best muni I have ever played and ranks above a lot of private clubs close buy *cough cough* chapel hills. Overall, course is kept is great shape, greens get slow at times but don't be surprised when you show up and they are running at 11. Grass is always thick tee to green and the occasion of a poorly kept bunker as play can get super busy. Club house is small but everything you need... except some hotdogs... it's so simple.
Practice putting green is more of a chipping green but can definitely be used for dead straight 10 footer and in practice.
Course layout is great and starts off with one of the toughest 3 holes stretches in the area. Back nine is gettable and finishes off with a super tough, long Par 3. And the square bunkers are pretty cool!
Definitely worth the play especially for 30 bucks on the week day.
Okay
Paired with a couple of nice you guys who were late to tee time and played from blues and not really blue tee players. Not sure what they are doing with rough and mowing. Beautiful Friday to play a round. Clubhouse being worked on. So I guess everything in a state of flux but we enjoy course.
Greens not quite back to normal
Course was in good condition as usual but the fairways weren’t cut as tight as they usually are. Guessing it may be because of all the rain we’ve been having. The greens also aren’t back to the plushness yet that we’re used to since they aerated not too long ago.
Hitting with Kris
Currently, one of the best kept tracks near me. Fairways and greens are mowed well. Greens are in great shape but were a bit slower than I would have liked.
First Time
Course was in pretty good shape and the value was great. I played Stone Mountain the previous day and the greens were baked out and in really bad shape at a cost of $89 plus the $20 park fee. West greens were very good but really fast. One knock is the ruff was very deep so pay attention to your balls going in because you can lose them. Good Luck!
Everything was good except for the slow players in the field. The group ahead of us took three hours for the back nine holes. Rangers should check the pace of players.
Course was Beautiful
The golf course was amazing. The fairways and greens were in great condition. The man at the front desk could of been a little more friendly but the woman was super nice and inviting.
Great Day of Golf
We got off on time. The starter was helpful. The course was in great shape. Even though the greens had been aerated they ran true and had decent speed. The carts were a little wonky in that they did not accelerate smoothly and would die out unless you held the accelerator half way down. For a public course that gets a lot of play the course conditions were well above average.
Great course for the value
There is no course around besides maybe wolfcreek that comes close to value. the only complaint is that they wouldn't let me use a solo cart even though there was at least 10 available. They asked for $10 after me and the other solo were already on the first tee.
