Sewer line has made a mess of this course
I didn’t know until we arrived at the course hole # 5 is closed. You only play 17 holes. A developer has excavated a large portion of the front 9 to put in a sewer line. Due to this excavation at 2 separate points on the front you find yourself driving the cart directly at a tee box with other players hitting at you. Can’t believe this course is willing to accept that liability? You start play on #2 but again due to the excavation work you can’t drive past # 1 to get there. All in all I will avoid this course until #5 is reopened which they say should be mid July.
Enjoyable Round of Golf
First time playing the course that is owned and run by the City of Douglasville, GA. Nice layout and course was in pretty good shape for early February with all the wet weather we have been having. 9:40 AM tee time and parking lot was mostly empty when we arrived but full four hours later and this was a week day. Easy to book and pro shop employees were extremely nice and helpful. Carts were in great shape. There is construction on-going with installation of a pipeline which closes one hole but besides that, everything else was open. Looking forward to playing again.
Great hidden gem
Tee boxes are 6/10, Fairways are 8/10, Greens are 7/10, layout is 9/10, golf carts are 10/10. Solid 4 star course. Good for friends and if it wasn’t so far from buckhead, I’d take clients here. Friendly staff as well. 110% value for the money.
Don’t waste your money
The two folks that checked me in were incredible. They were kind, personable and check in was a breeze. Everything from that point in was horrible.
I enjoy playing as a single. I love the space I’m 6’3 and 200+ lbs. As a Black gay woman, I’ve had some terrible experiences being paired up with some unpleasant folks. So for safety reasons, unless I’m with a friend of mine, I’m going to pay to ride solo OR book at another course that gives me that option.
Now to West Pines, I check-in, receive cart keys, purchase bag of range balls, and head to the range. After warming up, I head to the tee and when I arrive the starter is there and the guy I’ve been playing with is there in his cart.
Before we tee off, the starter tells us that we will be having to ride together in the same cart even though we both checked in AND BOTH RECEIVED cart keys. I ask why we weren’t informed of this at a check or when I booked through GOLFNOW. It was clear the other golfer shared the same sentiment. Instead of just admitting that things could have been communicated prior to now, he chose to be an ABSOLUTE patronizing and condescending jerk and really started our round on a horrible foot.
For almost $70, I can confidently say it’s incredibly overpriced. The course isn’t well maintained. Nowhere in the booking did they say we would be playing for temp tees and we teed off from the FAIRWAY on the second tee! No ball wash, water was available on maybe 2-3 holes, we didn’t see the cart girl until the 11 hole and then she came around again on 14 to tell us this was her last round. If I would have known this is what it would have been like, I wouldn’t have paid almost $70 and driven almost an hour. Save your money, your time and go elsewhere. I promise it’s not worth it.
Weekday Golf
Course is in really nice shape, grounds keepers are doing a good job this summer! Greens where rolling nice today. They have a nice large putting area that you can chip on and a solid range. The club house is renovated, bathrooms are super nice and clean. Bev cart was in full swing and they had two water coolers are the course. If you can fight the I-20 traffic this course is awesome!
Great course
Very challenging. Fairways were in excellent condition. Greens were fast.
Challenging and Pristine
Really enjoyed playing this course, it beat me up due to the angulations and balls being below or above my feet. Look forward to taking on the challenge again soon
Fun Course, good value, great condition
West Pines is a fantastic value for the price. It’s been rainy so I played up a tee box but I was pleasantly surprised how well the course played after days of heavy rain. Kudos to the Superintendent & his/her crew.
Pace of play was great(about 3 hours as a single with paths only).
I read other reviews that mentioned negative comments about the broken cart paths, and the tee boxes but I didn’t feel they were bad enough to detract from my rating.
The sand traps were sub par but anyone that plays a lot of golf knows that the extreme rain in the area as of late will keep the grounds crew from taking them properly. I didn’t notice any of them washed out, just not raked.
Greens rolled fairly again considering the amount of rain.
Great conditions for a low price
This course is in fantastic shape. The greens are fast and roll true. This place has public course pricing with private course conditions.
