Good course
Sand bunkers and tees need some work. Fairways and greens good.
Great way to spend father's day.
The area had a lot of rain. The fairways were kinda wet in several spots. Had no problems with the greens. Overall the course is in very good shape.
Great course
This course is a great play. Several dog legs and a few blind tee boxes to test your abilities. Great view of the lake on the back nine. Will be returning soon!
I really liked Eagle Creek, really I did.
I really liked playing Eagle Creek, really I did. I thought the holes were really interesting, it really tested your game management skills. Lots of doglegs. Lots of elevation changes. I am sure, in fact I am positive, any other year, it woulda been one of my top 3 courses., You certainly do not need your driver. I hit one driver all day...smoked it...cut off a good bit of left to right dogleg left side of fairway...100yds out...last pic is the lie...terrible...disheartening.
Problem is....the condition. It was awful. It looks like the superintendent/greenskeepers tried, but gave up. Many many many bare spots in the middle of fairways, The greens also, bare patches everywhere.(pic 3)...Not a single putt of any length today that didn’t have to travel thru a thin spot. Not one. I guess the “regulars” have given up too. I fixed many ball marks. some cups looked like a few putter heads dove in to retrieve the ball.
I really liked this course, didn’t like the nearly hour long drive to find it in such bad shape. Save your play for next year. I am sure it will be in tip top condition, and it’ll test you...make you think. Well, at least I hope so.
Hidden Gem
This is one of the top courses in Illinois. Went back to this course for first time in 15 years. It is a hidden gem! Layout is championship caliber, condition could be better. It is challenging and fun with several par 4 & 5 that you can not use a driver on the tee box. The value is phenomenal, you can not find courses like this for the price. Awesome setting off Lake Shelbyville with plenty of wildlife. It is worth the 2 and half hour drive.
Great Shape
Course is in great shape considering the amount of rain
I have played at Eagle Creek many times over the last 30 years. I am grateful it is still open. The course was very wet since we have had a lot of rain lately. All in all the course is in pretty good shape a few suspect greens that have mowing or cart damage. Please get better help in the clubhouse and never let a six-some and five-some play in front of me again. If they do and you ask them to leave and they refuse. Kick them off your course!!!!
The green fees are a bargain
You will learn course management if you plan to break 90. I had played this course several times before I retired and thought it was pretty tough. I have memberships at three courses and Eagle is my favorite hands down. I play 5 to six times a week sometimes 36 holes a day. Don’t just take my word for it come find out first hand.
Beautiful and challenging course.
I have played this course many times. Although this time it was a frozen swamp, the course is usually well worth the drive. During the regular season this course is absolutely beautiful. Very few holes are straight away, and there are lots of trees, hills, and valleys. The cost is reasonable, and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, with the resort closed, the amenities are very limited.
Excellent Value - definitely worth a play or two
$19 w/cart on a Monday? No brainer. Course is located in a state park virtually in the middle of nowhere and operates out of a trailer (lodge/resort has been closed for several years). Plenty of turkey, deer and turtles. Beautiful tree lined track with a couple nice views of Lake Shelbyville. Folks are welcoming and desire to earn your business. Course is in fairly decent shape most especially the greens which the pro said were the best he's seen them in 5 years. I concur....8th green is a rough shape but I found all to be very playable, smooth and speedy. Some bare patches here and there. They just had a tourney last week and all the pins were pretty tucked or in difficult positions. Traps were not very well maintained and some fairways can be patchy as well. Tee boxes so so.
This track has to played a couple of times....some areas are incredibly too tight/tree lined for the routing and many dog legs with a couple that are pretty severe requiring huge draws or fades off the tee. Play the white tees to enjoy yourself. The blues at 6600 are too much for most and you won't make a number of the dog legs...going left or right off the tee you'll lose plenty of ammo. Back nine has several very difficult driving holes.
A really nice experience. 3.5 stars overall. Put a 4 star on it because it was a nice day cheap decent shape and plus no one was there!
It was definitely worth the trip to play Eagle Creek. Will absolutely go back. $30 value.
Beautiful
Best course , challenging, best course around, a special plac in America
Nice course with lots of trees and views of the water on a couple holes.
Really like this course. Like the layout and the setting. Would be nice if they had a ranger. Play gets bogged down when they allow groups of 5. It’s a hard course and not all the players know golf etiquette.
Good course, good value
Nice course with an interesting layout. Lots of doglegs. You will need to be able to work the ball to score well here. A couple of the holes back onto the lake. Big hitters will need to be conservative off the tee. This course is in the middle of nowhere since the hotel has closed, but it is definitely worth a drive.
This course was fun and challenging. Greens were in great shape and fairways nicely mowed. We enjoyed it and would play it again!
Great course!
Challenging layout. Gas carts get around course great. Fairways and greens in good shape. Friendly staff. Safe parking fir your car.
Question?
We arrived 50 minutes early of our one o'clock tee time because of the heat that day. There were 3 cars in the parking lot. We were told that the golf now policy is nobody tees off before the tee time booked. We waited until five minutes to one to tee off, with nobody going before us. I have had no problems at other golf courses about this golf now policy. Is this the policy or was it Eagle Creeks policy?
Dano
Great course with lush fairways, varied layout, good greens and unbelievable scenry. Quiet, peaceful and low key environment -just a great place to play. It is a terrific value.
One of our all-time favorite golf courses.
We travel around the country in an RV and love playing different courses. We come here at least once a year and stay a few days just to play this beautiful course. You will love the challenge of this course and the wildlife you will see as you play on beautiful rolling fairways with woods on both sides.
If you are in this area it is a MUST PLAY course. The rates are really low and the course is awesome.
