Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur is one of central Illinois' most popular courses. It has a player-friendly layout that appeals to a wide range of skill levels. The course features flat, wide fairways that make it ideal for beginners while the lengthy holes and blustery winds provide enough of a challenge for more advanced players. The par 4s are particularly long. There are some tricky holes, but you'll do well as long as you're able to keep the ball in the ample fairways. There are strategically placed bunkers coming into play as well as a few water hazards. You'll have to cross a creek on the 16th hole. Hickory Point G.C. also offers a lighted driving range and a six-hole course built specifically for beginning and youth golfers.

Nice day
Weather was windy however our foursome had a great time! The pace was quick on the front nine until we came up on two fivesomes playing a scramble. We had to wait almost every shot on the back nine. Still we had a great time!
Excellent course that is fun to play.
I always enjoy playing this course because the fairways are generous and the greens are large. In addition, the staff is friendly and helpful.
Hickory Point always enjoyable
Course was as always enjoyable. Normally greens are some of the best in the area but they had been aerated recently. They were recovering nicely, just made a difference in how it played. Pace of play is always good here.
Great course n good criends
Course was in excellent condition and played tough. Rough is high and sticky, greens were perfect putting and he shots really well.
Dog Day in Decatur
Very Hot, but few golferswere out so pace was great. Love what they have done to the clubhouse and tees. Greens were in great condition. Oddly with all the rain the rough was dying in spots.
Late in the year course was in good shape
Everything was good.
Greens were just a tad slow but it is almost winter here so they not expected to be as good as earlier in the year!
Hole 15
check the condition of hole 15 before you go. It's a great par 5 with trouble everywhere but, floods often and is played as a par 3. We really missed the challenge of the double dog leg.
Enjoyable round of golf
Good golf course that rewards accurate shots and most often does not overly penalize wayward shots. The greens roll true. Great layout. Looking forward to playing the 15th hole again when it returns to its full par 5 yardage. Best hole on the course when it plays at its full yardage. Cutting 375 yards off the distance of 15 helped me break 90, but an intermediate golfer benefits now from this hole that is 2.5 strokes easier as a par 3. Other excellent holes on the course including the 18th hole. Very nice clubhouse. Complementary yardage books helpful.
Great Park District Course
It looks like a country club when you drive up and the facilities match. Great customer and friendly service. The course and greens were in great shape except #15, but that was not a problem. Play it if you want a great day with friends and a course that is user friendly as well.
Great course
From the east coast and was here visiting, played this course and was very impressed. Greens were in great shape and layout of course is awesome especially if you like hit your driver or at least like trying too.
Hickory Point
Nice course in Forsyth just north of Decatur. Most fairways are wide open. Fairways and greens were well manicured. Complimentary yardage books and divot tools are a nice touch. More yardage markers on the course would be nice.

From an average golfer who plays this course on a regular basis...this course is always well maintained. Rough us rough fairways are great. Greens are avg paced with good roll. The course is long and it plays at times deceivingly long. It will teach you to hit your yardages and play smart golf.

Great challenging course.
Played for the first time. I currently live in Indianapolis and was home visiting my parents. Made the trip north about an hour, wasn't disappointed. Great course. It was in great condition and pace of play was excellent.
