Very Challenging
I'm not from the area but, play a fair amount of golf thru out the year. The greens were extremely difficult and were very hard and dry. I almost think that they do not water at all. I'm an 8 handicap and did not enjoy having these conditions. Also, I ordered a hot dog at the turn and had to wait for 15 minutes. Overall my experience was not what i expected.
played on "tornado" day
I played at 12:40 on Wed. 4/30 and I am thankful the weather people were wrong. It was supposed to rain 2-5 inches leading to my teetime. It didn't and it was so nice to ride on the course. Greens rolled very true, nice bentgrass greens (so many courses have gone to the midiverde). Was greeted nicely in the proshop and Ed the starter was very pleasant and explained things well. They had a putting green and a separate chipping green. One piece of advice is to buy LARGE bucket of balls, the one token is only about 12-15 balls.
Nice layout, pretty good sand, very generous landing areas and almost no water hazard.
Good Value
Great value for your money. It is far enough away from Atlanta so the pace is fairly quick
Fun Course
Played this course on Easter with a friend. My first time, and he had played there before and had local knowledge.
Not the best value for your money in the area, but a fun, different course to try out. Lots of risk and reward holes to make you think.
We played cart path only due to rains. Course was in good shape for just coming out of winter. They had just plugged and seeded the greens. SO the greens were alittle bumpy but it didn't throw puts off too bad.
Well maintained fairways and greens. The driving range had us on astro turf. I don't know if that is the norm or not. I didn't care for that too much, but everything else on the driving range was fine. Putting Green, Bunker areas, etc...
Friendly staff and well stocked Pro shop.
All and all, i would play this course again. I'd only do it if it were a little cheaper though. For the Atlanta area it's not worth $40.
Nice Layout and fun course
Fun Course. Nice layout. Hilly for someone like me from NOLA. But this is typical for courses in this area. Always makes me feel like I'm climbing Mountains when I play in the N. Georgia / Atlanta area!!
They had just plugged and seeded the greens so they were kind of bumpy and difficult to read well. We had played after a rain and it was cart path only, but the course was in pretty good shape.
For my first time seeing this course and playing it, it was a pleasurable experience. I will play here again.
The members behind us had an attitude at first, I guess they don't like the fact that it's open now...but that was probably the only down side to playing here.
Golf is customer service business.
Golf is customer service business. Is this right? Then, club staff and ranger beed change attitudes seriously... I mesn that, They said that internet golfnow deal is not makeing money. I was i hour early to warn up. Club saff said that "I can't let you go you are as golfnow customer, you have to go with other." I told him that I just get here for hit ball or putting exercise, etc. What is your problem." I should left the club. The ranger is worse. If they don't handle customer prompt, they should go home, Because those attitdues will lose my money and other as well.
Great course
Had a lot of fun But NOONE told me when I booked the 4some that they had just aerated and sanded the greens- ticked me of a little but we still had a great outting-- after all- putting is overrated!!
A very good course.
This is a good course to play with friendly staff and fellow players. No water but many elevation changes and many bunkers to make it challenging.
Will not honor Golf now reservations - VERY RUDE!
I reserved my tee time the day before to be paired with other golfers. When I arrived they gladly took my remaining money that wasnt taken on the golfnow website. I then waited for my tee time.
The people that I was supposedly to be with knew the Marshall and were talking to him and he let them go on without me. I tried to be courteous and wait but ended up waiting 45 minuntes and finally asked and then they told me another hour to get in another group. They would not refund my money - only a rain check. Who wants to go back to a course that acts like this? It was a beautiful day and I wasnt playing golf - needless to say it ruined what could have been a great day!
Challenging course in good condition
A very fair but hilly, challenging course in good condition with excellent greens. You will hit every club in your bag and all parts of your game will be tested. I have played the course 30+ times and it is a great layout. Short holes, long holes, uphill, downhill, tight, open, well place bunkers...etc...
A very good value for the money and Tommy Aaron might join you on the tee.
Nice old school course near Lake Lanier
An hour trip from Atlanta up 985 to the North East side of Lake Lanier. A lot of up and down, right to left but not too much. Not a ton of "open field" golfing like a lot of the newer courses. Big tree lined fairways, well placed traps in good condition as well. Greens were around 8 - 9 speed with some suttle undulations. Overall we had a good time, even for a Sunday we moved along fairly well and finished in around 4 hours. Busy local course but seems to be pretty well managed overall.
beautiful course with great veiws of lake lanier.
Really enjoyed playing this course, beautiful veiws, greens and fairways are excellent, and great food at the grill. will be going back very soon.
Nice Georgia course with uneven lies and sloping fairways
Just enough hills and slopes to make you think about where you should be playing your shot to. I don't play the back tees so its not too long to be enjoyable. The greens are becoming really nice . Like many courses in the north GA area the greens were replaced with the new version of ultra dwarf Bermuda a little more maturity and the greens will be wonderful. The fairways are well defined and the rough is challenging while still allowing you to find an errant tee ball. I will play there again many times.
Course is well maintained except for the areas adjacent to the fairways and some greens.
This course is beautiful, but difficult to play unless you stay in the fairways. The personnel are not particularly cordial and are generally dismissive.
What a great layout...Kudo RTJ Sr.
The fairways are wide, greens are big and the ball rolls true. the scenery is outstanding with Lake Lanier in the background.
This course is one of my favorites in the area. I love the layout.
The staff is always friendly and the course is always in great shape. I usually hit every club in my bag. I alwyas look to play here year round.
Good Course - Fair Test of Golf
This course is worth the drive from the Atlanta metro. The course conditions for this round were good, but not great. Love the bent grass greens. The greens have held up through the summer, but seemed a bit wet. Pace was good and the roll true. The fairways are good, but should be excellent in late August. The rough is long and penal. If this were my course, I would cut the rough back. However, the rough is not unfair, it simply slows play as a ball missing the fairway can be difficult to locate. The bunkers were groomed and well maintained.
The course can play long. Be kind to yourself and others, play the tees appropriate for your skill level based on distance. The average golfer should not play the blue tees at Chattahoochee.
The best on course beverage service of any public golf course in NE Georgia.
The course staff should better manage place of play.
Been playing here for many years, great course!
Been playing here for many years, with the golf now hot deals it can't be beat
