Don't book with GolfNow
Multiple staff members assured me that booking with Golfnow is unnecessary and about $4 more expensive per person. The course traffic is generally light and a tee time is never required. Front 9 is a mess: poor upkeep, odd hole designs, bumpy eroded dirt roads for carts, and goose poop on some greens. Back 9 is much older and better designed. Short holes and tiny greens. This is a hackers course and the people are nice. It's fine for a cheap round with friends, but certainly not a destination course.
Improvement
They have made some improvements and the course is much better
Relaxed Golfing at its Finest!
Not only are the people at Jonesco nice and relaxed but so is the course!
Great Layout - Very Poor Green conditions
This layout has great potential. Lots of interesting holes but the condition is very bad. The greens have huge areas with no grass and they are very bumpy. The fairways are not closely mown and have lost of bare areas. The rough was extremely long in places causing lost balls.
Over all I cannot recommend the course right now. It is late in the year, the COVID situation all probably play into it. If you can play it expecting poor conditions then the layout may be worth the $20 on Golfnow.
Pitiful Conditions
I'm not extremely picky when it comes to golf courses. I play a lot of municipal courses that are rough around the edges. This one was unconscionably bad. It looked like it had been abandoned for two months and nature was beginning to take it back.
The "greens" weren't just brown. Some were more dirt than grass.
It's clear that the rough has not been cut all year, and the fairways are filled with high weeds in places. Most fairways have at least 10% exposed (and rocky) soil, making even many fairway lies difficult to hit.
Even at its best, this course is a mess of a design. Some cart paths are just semi-dirt roads. Some tee boxes are behind or immediately next to the previous green, so you have to putt in front of people teeing off or drive through them to get where you're going. Signs are limited, and markers on the course are nonexistent.
There is a kids component to the course, so there were multiple groupings with little children, and no one seemed to know how to let others play through. I brought it up to the staff at the turn; they said they'd handle it, and then went back to whatever they were doing.
If you're new to the game and don't want to take it seriously., like golfing in flip-flops, or just looking to hack around for a few hours, this is your course. Otherwise, stay away.
It’s ok.
We used a hot deal on this course. The greens are ok, but the fairways are very thick and the ruff is pretty much unplayable. It has potential to be very nice if the would cut it, and clean up some of the brush for guys like me that play from the trees quite a lot.
The course is fine but your serve at Golf Now is terrible. I have deleted your app and so are other friends.
KENNETH OGLETREE
This course ducking blows
I learned to play on cow pastures and let me tell you, a cow pasture beats this course 10/10 times. I would rather lay in an ant bed than ever play this course again. The greens bounced similar to if you hit a pitching wedge onto asphalt. They then rolled worse than the rough on any decent course. I got the hot deal on here and it was still that much worse than what I expected. Every course I’ve played in the area is significantly better than this one.
Conditions
Considering the time of year it was in good condition. Slightly soft as there wasn't much roll after shots.
Don't Let The Pictures Fool You
So I took my two sons to play at this course. I looked at the recommendations and pictures to make a decision. The ratings were a little low but I wanted to give them a chance. BIG MISTAKE!! Course was trashed with renovations, greens were sanded and both carts had issues with their parking break. If you played this course you know how hilly it is... Only thing to bring praise was the staff. I should have taken REAL pictures.. Golf Now should take them off until the construction is done.
