6 hour round!
What a disaster. 6 hours for one round, multiple groups were waiting at holes multiple times. And given a 6h round, you would think there would be a cart girl driving around offering refreshments..nope! Oh ok, so no cart girl, whatever.. I’ll just wait until the halfway house to get some food.. sike! That was closed too! I was distraught as I sat back in my cart and waited for 2 groups ahead of me to tee off on the tenth. Another 3 hours for 9 holes! Yay!
Avoid this course like the plague.
This course is great for all skill levels
The group I went with was all different skill levels and it felt like a great fit for all of us
Terrible pace, over watered, poor leadership
Played last Saturday and the round took 5 hours and 18 minutes. For the first 6 holes there were 3 groups on each tee. Between 9-10, there was a group that stopped for lunch.
The course was so over watered that it was "fairways" only. Each shot resulted in a mud ball, no matter if you were in the fairway, rough, fringe, etc. On 9 a ball plugged underneath the surface in the fringe.
No rangers to assist with anything. Won't be going back and will find a new dome, too.
Pouring rain for almost 24 hours, no rain check
As other reviewers have posted on numerous sites, this place simply does not issue any type of rain checks or refunds for any reason. All roads lead to “No” at this place.
On 9/17/23 at 630 am, I was told I would be charged if I missed my tee time because they viewed the course as playable with almost 20 hours of straight rain and no end in sight of it ending all morning.
Not wanting to lose our $165 for 2 players, we begrudgingly woke up and tried to play a few holes. I couldn’t believe their claims the course was playable. First of all, almost no one was even at the 45 hole facility, including employees. Most greens had standing water and cup holes full of water. Besides running creeks going down most fairways and non stop rain, the cart paths were not even safely drivable! So many cart paths covered with 1-5” of water, deep craters of missing asphalt and tree root road bumps everywhere. Even on a dry day, for $75 a round these cart paths need some serious help.
After finish 12 holes soaking wet and freezing, I figured any respectable course would issue a rain check for future play. Heck, it’s almost the end of the playing season, what really do they have to lose? Not a chance. What I heard and read about this place was true. These guys at the counter then told me no one put a gun to my head and told me to play this morning. I then informed them they most certainly did, when I called at 6:30 in the morning and was told I would lose my money if I didn’t play. They then went on that there’s no possible way they could issue me a refund anyway because it’s all up to golfnow.com and I would have to call them for a refund. It was simply out of their control. The guy then asked for my reservation# for golf now and he then discovered I was only charged Golf Nows fee for booking! This caused him to start raising his voice at me and implying I was trying to steal a round of golf at the facility and I told him to stop shouting at me like I was some type of child!
I continued to tell him to stop yelling at me and I 100% checked in at the pro shop beforehand and then spoke to the starter about the course for many minutes before golfing, nothing was wrong. I played the course for almost 4 hours in the rain, behind a slow group and almost ZERO people at the facility. Green Garden has electronic check in with IPADS and both employees failed to inform me to pay. Again, the entire 45 hole facility was a ghost town, they could have come find me at any point in time. However, it was probably too rainy and crappy conditions for them to do so, but we can play golf.
I then informed them that 5 minutes ago, they told me GolfNow has all the money, and I would have to take it up with them. Now, they were demanding my credit card, and about to charge it fully. I then asked them if they were charging me for a full round of golf today, $75 per player plus tax, and he most certainly did. He was overjoyed to do so, let me tell you.
Absolutely awful customer service on an awful weather day where no one should have been golfing. Penny wise, hundreds of dollars stupid. No one should have golfed that day, I hope our $165 really helped keep the 45-hole plus golf dome facility afloat that day. A simple rain check for a couple $$ credit at the end of the golf season would have gone a long way.
Please stay away from this money hungry course. Read other reviews for this place on other sites and connect the dots.
Things I liked:
- The tees and fairways were in good condition.
- The layout of this course is interesting. You have 3 consecutive short par 4s finishing the front 9, and the back 9 uses some elevation changes and well-placed hazards to keep you on your toes.
- Two 4somes let our faster playing 2some play thru… Thank You!
Things I did not like:
- What used to be #1 on Gold is now #1 on Emerald; and what used to be #1 on Emerald is now #1 on Gold. I don’t like this because the former #1 on Gold was one of the best holes on that course.
- Bunkers are bad. Greens were slow and full of pitch marks. Did my best by repairing at least 3 marks a green.
- This course is incredibly overpriced. Every guy I spoke with on the course was only out there because of a deal time off the internet… myself included.
Things important to me:
- Rates are posted on their website.
- Though there are a few uphill walks, and longer strolls between holes, but the Gold course is very walkable.
- They used to have water coolers out on the course, but on the day I played they were gone.
Gold and Slow
Fun layout, nice staff. Pace of play, even for a Saturday, was painful.
