Southern Hills Golf Club

Southern Hills is a beautiful, well kept course a great deal for he $$. A few thingd you should be forewarned about.....golfers play in large groups (up to fivesomes) and will not let you play through....held up a fivesome on the front and never got by a foursome on the back. The course attempted to group the 'groupon' golfers together in a threesome or foursome and will not let you start early #even when there is no one on the tee#. Otherwise no complaints....enjoy the course and the scenery. Just do not be in a hurry.....

Without a doubt Southern Hills is the best course in the area. It is always well maintained. The course is a challenge without being unfair. It is a good test for all skill levels. Highly recommend to play if you get chance.

The tees were very nice. The fairways were very nice and the greens were running pretty good, also. The staff was very friendly. As is my habit as a single player, when I got held up, I fixed ball marks, divots and raked a few bunkers that hadn't been done by other players. But that's just Southern Hills small benefit from allowing me to play through golfnow.com.

Southern Hills is in outstanding shape. Tees, fairways, and greens are lush, bunkers are maintained, and there's even some real rough. The greens are challenging with lots of subtle and not so subtle breaks, but they roll true. Practice facilities are unsurpassed: huge pristine range, putting and chipping greens. The course has really matured since I played it years back, with a lot of the shaggier areas being dealt with. Bonus points for being very well marked.

The course is always in excellent shape and has the best greens in middle GA. Southern Hills is the best course within 50 miles of Warner Robins, GA and is by far the best value venue. Its no wonder why they play a NGA tournament there every year.

I LOVE this course. Anytime I can play here I do. The greens are in excellent condition and very fast. Fairways are also in great condition very lush. Rough is actually rough and it is very thick and challenging to get out of.

The only downside to playing here is they let a lot of four and five somes go out during the week and weekend, and most of them will not let you play through.

Staff very friendly, teed off a few minutes early with no delays. Played in less than 3 1/2 hours. Course in good condition, fun to play. I used the senior tees, and there were maybe 6 short par 4's, 315 yards or less. Course has mostly wide open fairways, so tee shots boosted confidence. I had my best score of the year. Can't wait to play here again.

Great golf course, challenging to all levels. The greens were the best I've seen in years, true reads and roll without being too fast. Long enough for the really good golfers, but wide enough fairways for high handicappers (like myself) to still enjoy the round. With the "hot deals" tab on Golfnow.com its one of the top golf deals in middle Georgia.

I played this course this summer as part of a church scramble and was very impressed. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the scramble. The practice facilities were top notch, the fairways and greens were prefect, and the price was great on top of that! The course was designed by Mike Young designs out of Athens...Lane Creek being one of their designs. Southern is just as challenging and well cared for as Lane Creek. Unfortunately I'm from the Atlanta area and it is too far to play regularly. But if you live anywhere near Hawkensville this is the best value in the area.
