Nice place to play
Enjoy playing this course every time. Hot, but that is a given in August. Greens were in great shape. A few of the fairways have some bare spots.
Hidden gem
This course is a hidden gem. At 5300 for women and 6300+ or 6600+ for the men, the course plays long and has many challenging holes. Terrain is hilly, and many holes are tight, requiring accurate shots. Greens were a bit slow and took some adjusting to, but conditions were very good overall. Fairways and tee boxes had some bare spots, but overall were plenty adequate for the price.
Great Course - Below Average Conditions
I have played Little Ocmulgee several times. Today, the conditions on the front nine were the worst I have ever seen at the course. The back nine, the conditions were like they usually are (great, lush, thick grass, etc.).
The course is a tale of two nines. The front nine has very tough conditions (fairways have lots and lots of bare spots with no grass, tee boxes have lots of dead areas with no grass, etc.) The back nine is awesome with great conditions.
Make sure to take some bug spray as the gnats are crazy thick and VERY, VERY pesky and persistent. )
The staff is VERY friendly and happy to help. I love the course, I just wish the conditions on the front nine were much better and similar to the back nine.
I highly recommend the course. It is the best golf value anywhere I have played. The course is VERY challenging with long par threes, long par 4's lots of trees which guards the greens and fairways.
If you get a chance, go play the course, just play the back nine twice and skip the front nine.
The greens were shaggy and were much slower than they normally run. However, the views of the wildlife are great (deer, turtles, wild turkeys, etc.)
Great course
Beautiful course with a great layout. Very friendly staff. Greens were a little rough and slow due to sanding them is the only reason for four stars on course condition everything else was great.
Good course and challenging
Great staff friendliness. The course is hard for higher handicap. Lots of tree limbs to hit out there ready for balls to lose. Fairways weren’t the best but the greens and bunkers were nice.
Little Ocmulgee gem
Nice layout aerated greens 3 weeks ago pretty well recovered. Good test of golf, longer par 3’s on front some really nice par 4’s. 2 double dogleg par 5’s short but accuracy a must.
Some fairways on front spotty but overall pretty good.
Very friendly gal in shop. If u have not played this one u should and in a few more weeks greens could be quick if they choose to do so.
Best course in this area.
This is by far the best looking course south of Macon. Course gives a good challenge for beginners and veterans alike.
Poor management
I’ve been playing this course for 53 years and it’s in the worst condition I’ve ever seen. They sprayed the fairways and killed the grass, fairways have no landings areas , new greens(2013) are not well maintained.

Very unusual course conditions
Normally this course is in excellent condition.
For some reason the fairways have been severely neglected. The grass hasn’t been fertilized or watered, thus no grass. This is even the case around the greens. You can’t play the ball down at all.
I’m not sure what is going on but this is out of character for this course. Hopefully this will be corrected.

One of the best deals around
Very much enjoy this course. It’s very well maintained and the environment is very laid back. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and you’re guaranteed to have a great time. Just watch the narrow fairways on a few of the holes. Straight is better than far in many cases.
Fairways in below average condition and greens very bumpy.
Not in the best shape I've seen. Greens very bumpy and fairways not too good.

Phenomenal Value
Played last Friday and could not believe how well conditioned a course could be that costs $30 to play. Great compliments to the staff.
True Test
First time playing this course. Pin location on 1st hole was unplayable. Back left on severe slope; otherwise the placements were fair. Could distinguish more between tees. Gold - 6100+, White - 6300+, and Blue - 6500+. Greens rolled well and true. I had the first morning tee time. Staff didn’t arrive to open pro shop 15 minutes before my tee time and then a course employee jumped ahead of me at first tee delaying my tee off. Not the biggest issue but the course employee could have tee off well ahead of me to avoid the delay. Overall great vale and a true test.
Excellent condition
This and other GA State Park courses have small staffs and reasonable prices, yet the condition of turf is always excellent. This is most evident in their almost always receptive yet fast and true-rolling greens.
Conditions
Course is over maintained, rough is cut so often that ball settles to dirt making bad lie guaranteed.
Great course
This course is always in great shape. The layout is fun yet challenging. Pace can get a little slow with groups that won’t let you play though but that’s an occasional occurance.
