has a number of interesting holes
Have played course multiple times, has become the only public course in HP this season as they are re-doing the other public course. Assuming this will mean more play all season. It was a very slow round, suggest that they put a ranger on the course to keep groups moving. greens in avg shape, which is a problem because it is so early in the season. Would also suggest they remind people when checking in to repair divots and ball marks and rake the sand
Take a break...
I always get excited when I can still play golf in November but I felt like a few members of the HPCC staff did not share my end of season enthusiasm.
Cart guy was totally cranky when I asked for a cart key. Made me feel like I was asking for a kidney. It was early, but that was also my first encounter with the staff. Then I purchased a range token drove out to the range and machine was out of balls from the previous day. I called the pro shop to ask for a bucket or another token because the range is 500 yards from the first tee... and they said they didn't have any balls but could give me a credit for another day. Seriously?
The good...Got a low rate from golf now and we were paired up with some great guys . Course and greens were in amazing shape for November and pace of play was real fast. For the price and pace and quality of course I would still return, but some customer service would bring me back every week.
Good course in great condition
I hadn't played at HPCC for a year or two but looked for a place to place inexpensively on a warm Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised at the pace of play, expecting to finish less holes than a complete round. The course has several short par 4's (from the senior tees) which is perfect for the aging golfer with declining distance off the tee. Greens were in amazing shape. A nice track with some interesting holes.
Great Fall Course
HP is in great shape for the fall golf season. The greens are rolling nice and the fairways are in great conidition. Try to stay in the fairway as the 1,000s of trees lose leaves all over the rough and its impossilbe to find a ball.

Fall Golf
Nice course and really great value. Fall golf so lots of leaves and pretty muddy conditions due to lots of recent rain. Overall really enjoyable experience, I will be back again!
Wonderful fall golf
A terrific experience. My son and I were paired with another twosome and had a terrific time. The course was in great shape. Fairways, while narrow, were fair. Greens were true. An interesting layout, with a cute 100-yard part three over water and three nice part fives. Thoroughly entertaining round. Would eagerly do again.
Not well mainitained.
The course was not well maintained. It appears that rough was not cut for some time. Tee box had a lot of divots so the tee box was not moved for some time. Bunkers did not have enough sand and it was like hitting on a hard ground.
Nice - but slow - course.
Played on an October Saturday afternoon after finding a great price online. Very friendly staff, course was in fairly decent shape. Fairways were very moist, Greens had a lot of unrepaired ball marks (shame on our fellow golfers, not the course).
We knew going in it would be slow going on a nice Saturday afternoon, and we were warned at the start that the course was full, but having said that, it was VERY slow, even with no foursomes ahead of us, just 2 and 3-somes. I didn't understand why we never saw a Ranger on the course, which was frustrating, as a couple of the groups in front of us were clearly in need of either a quick reminder - or a quick scolding - to quit with the 4 practice swings followed by hitting 2 balls each.
We finally called it quits after only getting 12 holes in after 3 hours, as it was clear to see we were headed towards a 5+hour round, and that's not my cup of tea, even with a good layout and nice weather.
Great deal for a above average course
I hope they change their mind and don't close this course in 2018. If the price is right I rather play here than Sunset Valley. It's within 30 minutes from northwest side of Chicago and easy to get to.
Great track for the money
This course is in great shape and is a steal compared to other choices.
Layout is top notch, and $25 with a cart is awesome for this type of course.
A great find in Highland Park
I was surprised and delighted to find such a nice course nearby. It was very challenging with a wide variety of holes requiring accurate shots. Though shorter than other courses it is heavily treed so punishes erratic shots.
Condition has declined
Since July the greens have started to brown out and do not roll as well as in past months.
Short, Target Golf
Tee time: 2:10 on a Tuesday ($30). Took a half day at work to play Highland Park with two of my friends. The course is short at just 6,051 yards from the golds. Greens were quick, but for the most part easy. Course layout is interesting. I really liked Hole #11 (a 165+ yard tight Par 3 with water running down the right side) and Holes #14 and #16, which were both very unique. Note: there is a driving range and chipping green on site. Only thing Highland Park is missing are GPS-equipped electric carts (seriously though, please upgrade). If you're in the area, give this course a go!
Lots if trees, long rough, slow play
First of all, nice course, nice people working there. Course is challenging, good shape, play is slow and backs up a bit. Overall, good play for the money..
Late Afternoon Round @ Highland Park
Decided to play last minute at HPCC (5:45pm). Price could not have been any better - $20 with a cart for 18 holes (or what ever you can finish). I played solo and actually completed 18 holes in 2 hours 20 min. A short but tight tree lined course (many irons or rescue can be hit off the tees). Greens were soft (and very slow). Tee boxes were a little uneven in spots. Great to be out playing in the evening.
Fun course - slow play
Golf course was in great shape. The pace of play was a bit slow but not terrible. The only bad part of the day was trying to get something to drink from the cart lady. She drove right past us three times and never stopped. Otherwise, our overall experience was great. I would recommend this course for everyone, just bring your own water or beer.
Don't Play on Wednesday - Don't Expect Too Much
I didn't know that Wednesdays at this course is "Senior Day". They paired me up with two other singles and stuck us behind two foursomes of SUPER Seniors. It was a LONG day. The course itself isn't horrible. However, many of their tee boxes are severely crowned - meaning high in the middle and sloping off to the sides. It was nearly impossible to find any level spot from which to hit your tee shot.
great value
Old school country club, not particularly long but lots of trees (though they will lose a number of them to the ash bore). Some rather interesting holes and in very good condition. A fun challenge. I enjoy playing the course and for the cost it was a terrific deal. Let our twosome start on the back and then to the front. Took 3 1/2 hours to play - perfect.
