Not impressed
I played this course a few years back and had a positive memory in my head from that experience so when I saw it for $12 on the golf now app I jumped on it...clearly times have changed. The greens were in horrible shape with crabgrass running rampant and sometimes no grass at all. The bunkers were nearly overrun with weeds and grass and clearly hasn't been tended to in some time. The fairways weren't awful but they weren't good either. I doubt I'll be going back to this course anytime soon no matter what the price is and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless serious changes are made.
Course needs maintenance!
This is an interestng course, but severely in need of maintenance. The greens are terrible, most are sanded and have bald spots with small clumps of weeds growing. The surface is bumpy and makes it almost impossible for the ball to track a straight line. Most of the tee boxes are dirt and are hard-packed. The bunkers are all hard-packed, many of which are overgrown with weeds.I don't believe there is a watering system for the course, the faiways are mostly brown and very hard, although that does get you extra yards on the roll...
While the mid-week $25 rate is appealing, for me it's not worth the time or money to play this course again when other courses offer much better conditions for about the same price.
much improved - try it again
Course needs a lot of work!!!
This would be a fun course; however, the greens are terrible, a lot of sand, bald spots, and small weeds that make the ball jump aorund. Most of the tee boxes are dirt, and the fairways need some serious watering. The layout of the course is interesting and challenging, but even at the $25 weekday special rate, it's not worth the time and money to play it...
Terrible Course
Henderson has really deteriorated. Sand traps are full of weeds, fairways are full of weeds, greens are mostly sand. The men's room had no soap and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for quite awhile. This place is a dump.
Course has gone downhill
I used to play Henderson regularly and I was always satisfied with my experience. You could find a good rate and the course was typically in good shape. However this past visit was a whole different experience. The course was in terrible condition. All of the greens were either overgrown or burnt with bald patches all over them. The bunkers had weeds growing all in them and it seemed that they had not been tended to in months. Not sure what is going on out there but I would steer clear of this course.
Honestly it was so bad that I was tempted to ask for a refund after playing.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone
I'm not one to usually write reviews but I felt obligated after playing this course over the 4th of July weekend. This could possibly be the worst course I've ever played. I could grow and maintain better greens in my backyard. They were unplayable. Bunkers were overgrown, fairways uncut. Top it off with a pro shop employee who would have preferred to have been literally anywhere else. Wouldn't recommend anyone pay money to play this course.
Greens need work.
For the cost this is a decent course with some tee shots that challenge your accuracy. The greens get worse and worse the further you get from the clubhouse.
I only paid 10 dollars and felt like I grossly overpaid
I played a lot here in previous years and heard that the course had gone downhill. I only played this course because I have not played in several months and 10 dollars was cheaper than going to a driving range. The only decent part of the course was the fairways. Every green was terrible and in some of the tee boxes I needed a hammer. I did not even finish my round of golf. I will not be coming back until the current management company leaves in December and a new management company comes in and fixes this embarrassment of what used to be a nice course. Again, I only paid 10 dollars and felt like I paid too much. Don't waste your money coming here.
Great layout, tough shape
Great layout in pretty tough shape
Abyssmal
The course is in the worst shape it has ever been. It was probably in better shape when they were building it. The "greens" are non-existent. It is obvious they put what little effort is expended to maintain the course into number 9 and 18. The rest of the course is an absolute embarrassment. They should tell you before you pay $35 the condition of the course. The course might be worth $15 in its current state. Henderson is a great layout and fun course, it is pure shameful what has happened to the condition of this once excellent playing experience. Golf Now should remove it from its website, its nothing short of a misrepresentation to allow someone to book an essentially non-playable course.
Wait for change!
I have played Henderson golf course several times! This is a fun course to play! After last Wednesday I will not play here again until changes have been made! There is not a single green with grass besides the practice green by the club house! The manager didn't care to hear about his course quality! He replied saying "his course is as good as any around." I have never played on a course in such terrible condition!
Highly disappointed!!!
The Course Was Awful!!!
The course was awful. Do not waste your time & money on this course. I have never played a couse in worst conditions. I can't believe they charged us $39 to play this course with NO GRASS on the greens. I reached out to management and no reply as of now.
Don't waste your time or money
I've never seen this golf course in this condition!
If I had know the conditions of the course I would have chosen a different place to play. By the third hole I wanted stop playing and call Golf Now to ask for my funds back. As a previous golf course attendant worker...the only words I can use describe it is that golf course literally looked as if it is sick. I wanted to take dump on the fairway to help with the fertilization of the course.
Needs Work
Played for very cheap, so I can't complain too much. Bunkers, tee boxes, and greens are in really poor shape. The track is fun and challenging, it just needs to be maintained. Hopefully they can bring it back to glory.
Greens
The fairways where in good shape but the greens need some help bumpy and lightning fast.
Needs a ton of maintenance
I started playing at this course in 2014 and it was great value. The fairways were in good shape and the putting greens rolled true. Fast forward 2 years... Henderson has been nothing but disappointment. The tee boxes are concrete-like, sandy, and brown. The greens are terrible, horrible brown patches, and inconsistent speeds. Bunkers are a disaster with random hard-pan and grass growing in them. Needless to say, they have a lot of work to do. Not sure what's happened but I'll mot likely play Crosswinds from now on, even though it's ~$10 more, it's worth it because they actually maintain the course.
Henderson's Review
Overall good value for the course. I play the course at least once every couple of weeks. The staff is always friendly and courteous. Having a Marshall on the course will help with the pace of play especially during the weekends. Some of the tee boxes need some TLC. But, overall the staff is making great progress on the overall condition of the course.
TERRIBLE
WORSE COURSE I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I looked at the reviews of this course before blindly booking it. They were mixed, so I decided to make my own opinion. This hands down is the worse course that I have played. This course had so many issues. Let's start with the club house. First guy checking us in was friendly and polite but returning for beverages the other employee stood there and stared at me while I waited for someone to assist me. Finally had to ask him if there was someone that could help. Instead of him asking me if I needed help.
The course looked like it hadn't been maintained in a while. Almost every tee box was like digging into a batters box, with all the dirt.' The ground on the fairway was as hard as a rock that can have your ball rolling farther than it flew. The fair ways had grass that was thin and your ball was more than likely sitting in dirt when in the middle of the fairways. The greens are no better. With shots bouncing as high as the flag stick when hitting the green. Then competing with patches of weeds and grass on the greens was like playing plinko.. This place is in serious need of work and it's a shame since there are very few courses around. Don't recommend nor will play again. Waste of 35 dollars
worst course I ever played
Picked this up on a hot deal as I was driving through the area. Was the first group off the tee so pace of play not really a factor. The course was in really bad shape with a lot of over growth and the ground was so hard on the tee boxes that you could not even get a tee in. There was also grass growing in some of the bunkers. Definitely not woth playing as there are many better options in the area.
This course has seen better days.
I've played here many times before and this was my first in over a year and a half and to be truly honest it's not a five star nor a four. The greens are in bad shape and its only April, the fairways are great. A nice place just to hit the ball around.
try it again - much improved !
