Echoes of the Civil War

Old time course that’s relatively short by today’s standards. Greens were quite nice and the overall condition of the course was good. The course has several features that elevate it from average to above average. First, the growth of the trees over the years has led to frequent infringement on the driving angles from the tee. It brings shot-shaping into play right off the tee. Many of the green complexes are Donald Ross style pop-up greens with significant fall offs on the sides and behind. Coupled with the bunkering, gives the normally shortish approach shots more of a challenge. Finally, there are numerous old Confederate earthen battleworks still visable throughout the courses. Walking thru this terrain and history was a special treat.
