Open in the Front tight in the Rear
Hard and Fair first nine, then you have to manage your tee shots much better in the back or you will be in real trouble.
Sailing along, until......
Had a 2:52 tee time, and was supposed to play with someone else, but they did not show. So, had to go out as a single. Played through a foursome on the 6th hole, and took an hour and 40 minutes to get through hole 13. THEN, I got behind two foursomes of members on 14 that were painfully slow. They were AVERAGING 20 minutes per hole coming in, and took another hour and 40 minutes to play the last five holes. That's a SIX hour round! Even though the course was in good shape, and the greens were rolling good, I have NEVER had to endure slow play like this before. Not even at Pebble Beach which was a five hour round. Talked to the guy in the pro shop when I finished, and he said they did not have a Marshall on weekdays. I can only imagine what it is like on weekends. Played good, and shot 75, but will not play here again due to the risk of slow play. Nice course, but slow play is a possibility if you want to play here.
Best Value
Of all the rounds I have booked with Golf Now, this was by far the best bargain. Course in absolutely pristine condition.
If there is any negative at all there are a couple of fairways that are just too narrow for the average golfer.
Good Value and Challenging Course
You better score on the front 9 because the back if tough! The rough is rough and will punish you for missing the fairway.
Greens are in good shape.
Enjoyed the round
It was my first time playing course, I enjoyed it.
Great course.
Great course, went on a Sunday and very busy, but still moved pretty good. Staff was very helpful and courteous.
My new favorite
Very impressed with the course, definitely coming back.
Fast greens, interesting variety of holes.
Very different nines; the front fairly wide open and flat while the back nine is much tighter with lots of elevation changes. The greens were quite slick but in good shape. Some tee boxes a bit beat up and there were more winter weeds in some fairways than I would have expected from a mostly private club. Good par 5s and 3s. Several of the par 4s were a bit pedestrian. Overall a decent track I will likely return to in the spring or summer.
We'll see
Played easy on front and hard on back. Lots of walkers. pace was slow for a twosome but about right for 4 and should have been paired with the 2 we followed. People were friendly enough. Green were in good shape but a lot of divots from people not repairing correctly so appeared somewhat rough. Look forward to seeing what it looks and plays like in summer.
Nice Course
Very nice course, the back nine gets fairly tight.
Summit Chase A old school course
First time playing Summit Chase. I read reviews from previous Players and they are right. Front nine and Back nine are vastly different. Back nine is tighter but overall the course is in great shape and a joy to play . Fast greens stay below the hole to have a chance. Bunkers are in great shape. Wonderful track.
Front nine different from back nine
The front nine was similar to an open municipal course. The 10th tee gives a good warning of the hilly, narrow, and sometimes twisting course on the back nine. It's too bad they don't have a detailed map or guide book to the course -- hard for a first-time visitor to see around corners and know where to place shots on the back nine. The greens were fast and well-kept.
Great condition!
Good and challenging course. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens in immaculate condition. Front side is wide open, back 9 is tree lined and very tight. Great value on golfnow (usually a private course)
Very enjoyable tract
Course was in great condition. Truly enjoyed the experience and would love to play the course regularly.
Summit Chase Review
I had wanted to play Summit Chase for a while but only recently did so thanks to its addition to Golf Now. My buddy for got his clubs so we were an hour late getting off. The folks in the clubhouse were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I went to the range and hit a few, the balls were provided on the range for no extra charge. The conditions were impeccable. The greens were fast and burnt spots or sand. The fairways were lush. The traps could have used more sand but we are going into the rainy season so I'm not surprised. We play from the whites which are a long 6311 yards which accounted for part of the reason the slope rating is 131. In addition to the length, there are many other challenging aspects. It seemed as though most greens had two to three sand traps surrounding them. The tenth hole is an uphill shot over water where the landing area seemed at least 180 yards away. Many tee shots are down very narrow fairways so a three wood would be a wise choice. This course is worth playing!
