Country Oaks Nice Change of pace
For a cold windy day in early February it was pretty nice. Played on a Sunday at just under 50 degrees. Course was in very good shape for all the rain we'd been having. I've been going up to Country Oaks on an off from Tallahassee for over 20 years. The new clubhouse is nice but no food or drink on Sundays. Layout is relatively flat, lots of doglegs but it's not too long, just a bit tight, lots of trees but between the holes the undergrowth is almost non existent. I always enjoy Country Oaks.
In Good Shape
Nick in the pro shop is super friendly. Course is in great shape right now and plays fairly true. Greens are in decent shape and bunkers are all playable. Besides some minor spots with drainage issues, it’s a nice little municipal course. Probably plays a decent bit harder than it’s rating and yardage.
$35 to play a less than satisfying course
upon arrival was met by the staff insisting i head out to play or i would be bombarded with people so without going to the range after drive 5+ hours of driving i played like crap ended up pairing up with a local who explained the course was in the best condition it would be in all year due to some tournament being held over the last and next day course conditions were dismal at best grass missing on the greens the fair way’s looking like something from your local park and not to mention some bs soccer game they play on the golf course leaving extra flags sticking up as well as multiple tee boxes all of which pertain nothing to actual golf terrible course and i feel bad for the locals that have to call that there home course
OK Value
Course was very dry. Hard to tell fairway from rough. Greens rolled true and fast. Overall pretty good value for the cost.
The greens are beautiful
The teeboxes are pure besides a few divots that people forget to fill. The greens roll really nicely, but all of the bunkers seemed to be filled with water so if you hit it in the bunker you will have to take a drop because you will not find your ball.
Course has really went down
I have never played the course but did visit during a high school tournament my child played in a few months ago. Not sure what happened since that time but the greens are some of the worse in South Georgia, The course would be worth the price if maintained better. Really disappointed today. Two of the holes were not being played because of conditions.
Greens need work
Course gad a good layout and pace of play was great. Greens were patchy and just chewed up in spots. Some tee boxes were mostly sand and little grass. With a little maintenance this would be a very nice course.
Great fairways terrible greens
It looks like they mixed up the spray for the greens cause they all looked mostly dead really bouncy but the fairways looked great. We were a little disappointed cause this used to be one of the best courses around
Country Oaks
Because of recent rains course was very wet. Great layout and challenging. Will play again when it dries up.
