Gone downhill
This course used to be a gem. Great layout. Greens are horrible, bunkers have more rocks than sand. Just overall conditions are poor. Million dollar clubhouse, and 30 bucks spent on course over last couple yrs. Owner is great guy but AWOL. Good luck & God bless.
Great course layout- no effort in improving
Nice 18 hole course, but I won't pay unless I book using golf now and get a discount. They don't upkeep the rough so losing a ball 3ft off the fairway is entirely possible. They don't mark holes except for using spray paint on the deteriorated cart paths. Range balls have to be 5 to 6 years old and most are fracked and dirty. I don't even like using them with my clubs. The employee who works behind the counter never says more than the total you owe and is constantly rude. With some effort for improvement on the course, amenities and staff, this course could be miraculous.
Great layout and playability.
Excellent conditions for play. course was in good condition, greens were great, fairways were good with no bare spots. Bunkers were poor with little sand and hard pan.
Staff rude, no clean carts, limited food
I showed up at 2 in the afternoon for an afternoon round after playing another local course that morning. The clubhouse is brand new, but it appears the owners spent all their money on paint, wood and nails since the only food in the place was two kinds of crackers, and a few candy bars. Okay, maybe that's not quite fair. They had a hot dog tray with two "exploded" hot dogs that the cashier said were made that morning. Also, they had no buns for the hot dogs.
This course is fun to play, challenging, and varied. However, the group in front of us was three drunk college kids who left beer cans at every tee box and green, played extremely slow, and refused to let us play through. My round took five hours when it easily would have been only four hours if they let us play through.
In the end, we got a great deal on the tee time through golf now, but I would NEVER pay full price at this course.
Great layout
Some greens were bumpy, some greens were fair. Should be better shape in a few weeks. My group will come back on a golfnow hot deal.
Very challenging
I'm sure back in its hay day this course was awesome. When I played the course was not in the best shape. The fairways needed cutting and the greens were horrible. It was like putting on asphalt. I could tell that the greens were in transition from winter to spring.
All in all the course has a great layout and the value is unmatched for what you get. I played two rounds. The first was $25 with cart on Thursday and then I checked GN and I payed $16 with fees and that included the cart.
If you're ever in the area I definitely suggest playing here. The course has several beautiful holes. Well worth the money.
Disappointing conditions
I have not played here in a few years but had always been pleased with overall experience. Not the case this time. They have added a new clubhouse but the course conditions were subpar. Too much poa Anna in the greens and fairways and rough pretty thin. Might be condsiderably better in the middle of Summer when grass is in full growing season.
A lot of areas have been cleaned up since the last time I played and the course has potential. It just needs some water, fertilizer and weed killer.
Sunsweet Golf in Tifton, Ga
Very nice course, especially for the cost. Outstanding layout and the course is in pretty good condition. If it wasn't for the cart paths laid out between holes this could be a 5 star review. This is a must play course especially with Hot Deals available on Golf Now.
Enjoyable, Challenging Course
This course was formerly known as Sunsweet Hills, and it is one of the more enjoyable courses I have played. Quite challenging. The front nine is routed in a clockwise direction around the perimeter of the property; the back nine routes counter-clockwise near the center around a chain of ponds and lakes. The Bermuda grass fairways were just awakening from their winter dormancy. I would like to play this one again in a couple of months; it will likely be plush. The course is scenic and features a pecan tree grove on a few holes.
I'm not sure what type of Bermuda grass comprises the greens, but they putted true. Some greens are heavily contoured.
The 19th hole did not have much to offer, but the golf course more than makes up for it.
Very enjoyable round for mid-winter golf. Greens rolled very true. Big greens with severe slopes.
Great course, some easy holes, some challenging ones. Sand traps could use some attention. Young man that opened up the building arrived at 8:45am; sign on the window said they open at 7:30am.
Great lay out and a fun course to play.
Great value
By booking through GolfNow I was able to fantastic green fees. The course was in great shape. Fairways nice and green and not real tight. Greens were in excellent shape. I recommend to anyone having not played the course, give it a try.
I love this course
It's my hometown course of choice, there's three in this town and I rarely play them, even considering they are moth about half the price, full 18, I try to play every Sunday. It's the course I learned to play golf on and it's going to be the course my children learn to play on!
Friendly folks
The staff was very accommodating to me and my kids. Course was in good shape considering no rain has hit south ga in three weeks and. It is a steady 95 degrees. Will play it again soon.
