Crane's Landing at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort
About
Crane's Landing Golf Club is the centerpiece of Lincolnshire Marriott Resort. Designed by George Fazio, the course winds across 110 acres of preserved woodlands. It is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary that offers stunning views of the Des Plaines River nearby. At just over 6,300 yards, the golf course is not particularly lengthy but it still offers some formidable challenges. Water is a prominent feature of the course with ponds and a winding river coming into play on 12 holes. The greens are small and raised and the sculpted fairways are tightly lined with mature trees, demanding accuracy off the tee. Crane's Landing Golf Club's back nine is especially difficult thanks to the river, which runs along the entire left side of the 13th hole and also appears on no. 17, the course's longest hole.

Sixsomes Allowed, No ranger?
Horrible! 6 some ahead of us and no rangers anywhere. Par 4s with over 450 yards from white tees? So much here makes no sense. I only played because I got golf now cheap rate but still can't recommend.
Course was overcrowded and no rangers available. Front 9 holes are.in good condition although some of the greens are a little beat up. The back 9 are not well care for.
They are trying
This course offers a excellent challenging layout. And, a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I have taken refresher lessons from their pro, Erik, and he is excellent and patient. That being said, after a few days of rain, the course is in very good condition. Dry spell, not so much. A couple of greens are rough. The snack bar and bar are abandoned. They have a frig with beers and coolers to take out on the course. It's a pity because with the resort location, staff, & layout, this could be a gem.
Just a Course, nothing more
To be fair, the course was in pretty good shape, but other than that this facility is in desperate need of a facelift. The clubhouse is awful, just a room to pay for your round and maybe some balls/tees. The most disappointing aspect was the bar/grill. No one in there working, no food to be seen. The driving mats were in terrible condition and the putting practice green was tiny. Its a short course with a lot of water - I found it a bit difficult (especially a 200 yd par 3?). I would definitely pick one of the neighboring courses over this one next time if nothing else than the amenities.
Would not recommend
Its a shame they stopped taking care of this course and don't have the desire to do the simple things. The course was in pretty rough shape, the pace of play was slow as there is no ranger. Group ahead of me was a twosome playing multiple balls. The weather was 93 degrees and zero water. I took ice out of one of the jugs but overall i was very disappointed. In terms of the layout, the length on a few holes was ridiculously long. 457 on a par four for this type of course plus another hole had a large tree that prevented even getting a drive out long enough to get here in 2. I not very good at a 9 handicap but i prefer to have a shot at getting to greens in regulation. Not so on some of the holes here. Unfortunatley, its likely my last round there.
Good course for average joes
I liked this course as it was in decent shape at a decent price. There are a lot of beginners to average players. I would not come here expecting it to be top of the line and having great amenities. If you want a decent course for a decent price and not looking to join the korn ferry tour anytime soon, this is your place. Just a fun little place to enjoy with family and friends, nothing too serious.
Nice course slow play
Course is a typical resort layout with wide fair ways and nice run up areas to green.
Greens and nice on the slower side but respective. Length and normal with some tight shorter par fours.
I would play here more often if the play was not so slow and the price a little better it averages about 50 bucks so you need to look for a hot deal it only worth 30 bucks at best.
GOLF CONDITIONS
NOT VERY GOOD, NEEDS WATER AND NEW GRASS, PLAYED MOSTLY ON WEEDS
Not what it used to be
I was expecting a first class day, and was not very nice at all. Weeds everywhere, terrible fairways, nothing nice to look at, practice nets were a joke.
