Great day to play this course! Views are ok, unlike Royal Hawaiian. Photo submitted by demantony on 02/01/2020

Play Ko olina
Showed up and the range was closed because of an event. No phone call or email. Pretty disappointing from a “championship” course. I didn’t get the sense that this place was managed by golfers based on my customer service experience.
Great Course and Service
Really enjoyed playing this course again. It’s in great shape and the staff are fantastic.
A real treat
Decided to splurge a little bit and play Kapolei. I usually don't spend anywhere near that much money to play golf, but I had the opportunity so I took the rare step. I was not disappointed. It truly was golf at a higher level and the course definitely shows off as the championship venue that it is. Carpet like conditions and perfect greens, and yes, they are pretty much all elevated. I was actually surprised how much room there is to miss out there. There are some spots you will lose your ball in, but they can be easily avoided with a little care. The greens actually putted fairly slow, but not in a bad way. Plus it was nice to be sent off first at 8:04am on a Friday with two other singles. We took our time and were still done in 3 hours, and that was with me walking the front nine.
I do have a couple of critiques though. The warm up was a little challenging and substandard because you have to hit off of matts in beautiful Hawaii, and the range didn't really open until almost 8 for an 8:04 start. At least they let us putt and chip then hit a few before we started. Didn't detract from the value or experience any, but it is substandard in my view. Regardless I had a very enjoyable round.
Pace of play
The course overall was amazing; in great condition and fun to play... However the pace of play was awful the group in front of us was so slow at times there were 3 groups waiting at the tee box. Its hard to get in a good rythem when your waiting 5-10 min before every shot! I would recommend this course IF that group never plays again!
Interesting course, feels super slow
First time playing Kapolei and let me preface by saying it was a Saturday morning.
Course is a really interesting layout, nice mix of shots required off the tee. Achingly pretty to look at. Only issue I had was how incredibly slow it was. I was a single and the threesome the pro shop paired me with didn’t show so I went out alone. Come to find out there were 12 players in front of me playing in an planned (though not through the club) tournament. This meant lots of drops and searching for balls and marking 3 footers on the green. On the 5th hole the group in front of me said “we would let you play through, but we are playing for money so we need to stay together.” I waited for every single shot I hit that day. Anywhere from 2 mins to 10 mins on Every. Single. Shot. I started playing two balls and was still waiting. Marshall finally showed up on hole 16 and said “Hope you had fun!”
For $200 I would have hoped for a little more control of the pace from the Marshall. Course is awesome, and was in great shape. If you want to play quick, try to get the very first tee time of the day. Otherwise just recognize you are in for a slog.
Playable Course
I love this course as it is always in good shape, and is VERY playable from the whites. There aren’t ridiculous holes that require perfect shots, but there is some very thick rough. Sometimes the rough saves you from the water, so it can be a positive too. If you drive it well, you can score here. I usually shoot in the high eighties. I have shot in the 70s once in my life, so I’m good not great. Hope that helps
Great Course
1st time @ Kapolei. Nice course. Good layout. Not hard without wind. Shot 74 from black tees. Tips wasn’t available. Would’ve had better score but being 1st time and made stupid mistakes. Played w limited wind. Perfect day. Pace of play was great. Tee’d off at 7:52 am. Had to rush to catch up to the single so I had someone to enjoy the round with. The golf pro was awesome. He was very helpful and took time to talk to me. Very friendly. Thank you for a great experience being 1st time. Overall, the condition was in super great condition. Fairways were immaculate. Greens roll true. Bunkers, never went in. But had to rake a few due to the group ahead. Golfers, please take time to rake the bunkers properly. Golfers, please fix your divot and look for another to fix. Let’s keep courses in good condition for the group behind you. I will be back. Hope the next time, the have the back tees available.
A great golf course....
My wife and I played Sunday, 2nd tee-time out. A beautiful day to be out and getting a round of golf in. The pace of play is getting worse each time we go out on the weekends... took us 2:20 minutes to finish the front 9 and 2:35 minutes for the back for a total of 4:55 minutes. For the enjoyment of the game, you guy really need to adjust the amount of tee-times you put groups out... we don't mind paying a bit more but refuse to pay this amount to play an almost 5 hour round. For the pace, I can play at Pearl or Waikele and have the same slow play. BTW: you should turn off the GPS "warning" of slow play. it's not our fault that the play is slow.
Great course, fair but challenging.
I always enjoy playing this course. Friendly staff and nice lay out!
Fantastic Sunday Golf
Beautiful course and friendly staff throughout the whole facility..
Beautiful course
Kapolei has always been one of my favorite courses on Oahu. The layout is great. Good mix of sand bunkers, water. Good flow. Unfortunately on this day the play was slow. They allowed us to keep our twosome but the 3 twosomes in front of us were extremely slow. They also had limited snack choices at concession at turn. Staff very friendly and helpful . Price high for course green fees. Course in very good shape though.
Great course
Had a great time. Staff was very friendly, they treated our golf club very well. The course was in great shape.
