Improve On.
At that price, theya could afford to put 2 bottles of water in the cooler. And a couple of towels would be nice,
Pathetic pace of play, zero marshaling, bad bunkers
By the 6th hole there were 4 groups on the same hole. A group a couple in front of us had no idea how to play golf. One of them took 5 shots in the same bunker and never raked out. We called for a Marshall and no rever showed. Cloth liner showing through sand in bunkers. Benign layout. Greens were in good shape. They insist carts be back by 6 PM. You’ll never finish if you have a tee time later than 1:30. And
A bit disappointed
Bunkers were not good. Staff on course were great, however inside the clubhouse not so much. Definitely would not pay full price to play here
Economical choice of the 2!
We chose to play the Kai course simply because it was cheaper and easier of the 2 courses at Kaanapali. At least they said it was easier! NOT. Lots of very deep bunkers here but, the scenery was awesome.
Great Alternate Course
Played this course on a Saturday and teed off at 7:20 and finished in 3 hours.
The course was in great condition.
The tee boxes are fairly level and had lots of grass.
The fairways are easily identifiable and make visualizing a shot easier.
The bunkers lacked a little sand and were heavy but played fair.
The greens were in great condition. They rolled at about a 9 on the stimpmeter and everyone seemed to fix their pitch marks.
Great day at Kaanapali Kai
There is only Kaanapali Kai in my price range for that part of Maui. I found the greens fast and dry. The fairways were good and varied types of fairways. Cart paths wete in excellent shape and you got around the course quickly. The sand traps were atrocious. Hard as concrete. Generally we just picked up the ball and placed it close to where it went in. Lots of slow players but most let you play through. But the views were unbelievable!!! The ocean is right in front of you and beautiful house all around the course. Will always play it but hope they improve the traps.
Great course; greens need a lot of work to improve.
Nice course , but greens have been punched and sanded. Horrible green condition for this much $$$.
Play the upper course
Play the upper course. The upper course has much better views and is a much more fun course. Better views, better choice. The lower course is blocked by hotels.
Kaanapali Kai Not Kept Up
Many issues here so beware!
Head pro doesn’t care to fix all sand drapes and have them churned, raked and dragged every day. The traps are horrible condition and course sprinklers flood the clay based traps.
Majority of carts do not have maintained/cleaned carts. All divot jars are empty and not maintained.
Pro Shop help is unfriendly, rude and could careless. They make ZERO effort to provide customer service.
Starter is more worried about his ego than helping your experience at the course. Uncle Joe as he’s called is a joke, unprofessional and makes up stories about the greens and reading the grain. Tells customers untrue and ridiculous stories on how to read the greens. He doesn’t pay attention to the pace of play and making sure the golfers are well taken care of to enjoy their round.
Not worth the $120 fee. Course is really worth $45. Over priced for the quality of what you receive. They need to learn how to better prepare the course and service the customer.
Not worth it.
Overall great experience
Great experience, the most beautiful course I’ve ever played on. Would recommend to anyone on the island!
Probably not worth the money
Overall it’s a nice course because of the view and the challenge. That being said, it was 80 degrees and they did not have beverage service on the course (or at least the cart never came to my group). I called the clubhouse twice to figure out if they were coming, but went to voicemail twice after a number of rings. In addition, the grounds crew was still out for about the first 9 holes (I had a 7:34 tee time, so I understand the first couple holes) and the course was left with all of the leftover tufts of grass. The people at the shop and tending the bags were great, but the total package was lacking. If someone would have picked the course up, put it where I live (Pacific Northwest) as opposed to Maui and charged $50, I would have thought it was about right.
Great views
Course was a fun time. Golf carts offer good technology in terms of lining up distances and things like that. This course does have the feeling of playing in the backyards of the people living near the fairways. The holes also felt sort of same-y, especially the beginning of the back 9. Course is a little higher up so the views of the water are quite nice.
Sand traps
The course was in so so shape. The sand traps were all in very poor shape and were being made over it appeared. No one warned us to f that
