Kahili Golf Course Photo submitted by vhendersontr6 on 10/17/2012
Great Value
Great course for the price. Beautiful views from many vantage points. On the cart GPS gives you good info on how to play most holes because it is breezy and fairways and greens tend to kick the ball left or right. In all it was a fun round.
Fun Course
Fun course to play. It was in decent shape and the views of the mountains and ocean were good too.
Staff was very friendly and made sure I had a good day.
Good course for the price
Kahili is a good course for the average golfer and one of the better value on Maui.
several risk and reward holes
Greens were a little inconsistent due to recent airification, course overall very good. Staff was excellent.
Love This Course!
Regular visitor to Maui, this is the course to play! Aside perhaps from some bunkers filled with dirt-like sand, the only bad thing anybody could say about it is the wind- it usually has at least a two club wind blowing, often early in the morning, making targeting and club selection difficult. But the course layout is superb, views excellent, the staff unusually friendly, the pace of play good, the beauty unsurpassed. I'd rather play this course 4 times than pay the ridiculous prices at the heck-and-gone Kapalua or the old Kaanapali courses (which often are even windier), or the overpriced and oft-cloudy Wailea color courses. Thanks Golf Now for a great price. But even if you pay rack rate at Kahili, its fair, especially on Aloha (every) Friday (though all of that is likely to change since a corporate titan is soon taking over- that won't be good for anybody but Troon, but I digress).
Nice range to warm-up with and pricing for that is fair also. The bag drop and starter staff work hard to help you enjoy a nice round. Large, beautiful clubhouse.
To play this well, you have to constantly stay aware of the wind direction and speed. Trust me when I say add 2-3 clubs into the wind. Don't forget to take off 2 clubs if downwind into a green. You can have some fun on a few of the downwind par 5s, I hit one crisp and earned a 340 yard drive and an eagle chance. The cross-winds are the toughest- trust physics and aim into the trees if the approach shot seems into a crosswind (as 17 often is). Play no more than a wedge from the whites or a 9 from the blues on downhill # 13- take your camera and go for the pin. Beautiful. GPS on the carts is accurate and helpful. Greens are consistent, unlike most other Maui courses.
No beer cart here but Auntie in the snack shack on the turn is one of the friendliest ladies on the island, the beer selection and pricing excellent, as are the sandwiches and muffins.
Very fun to play
Great little golf course. No two holes alike. Par threes especially interesting. Very scenic and plenty of wildlife to see. Greens had just been aerated recently when I played so they were quite slow and bumpy but am sure that is not the norm. Be sure you take the grain on greens into account. And be prepared for a lot of wind. Overall, a lot of fun to play!
Loved this course
Played in high winds but really enjoyed the course.
Listening to the GPS instructions on each hole makes a big difference.
Will play this again in two days.
Windy Kahili
Good value for Maui ... Windy conditions ..staff very good ..
amazing!
Amazing course and super friendly staff. Great price too!
Great value
Excellent golf experience. The course was in great shape, although the greens had just been aerated. The trade winds make you concentrate on yardage on each shot and being in the fairway is a must. We finished our round in 3.5 hours and booked another time in a few days. The restaurant is fantastic and the prices are reasonable. For the price this is easily the best value you will find on Maui. Great course and the staff were all friendly and even recommended restaurants to eat at.
Can't beat a day of golf!
Excellent views. Tee boxes in good shape. Fairways good to excellent. Putting greens had just been aerated so hard to judge.overall a very nice course at a good value.
Beautiful
Challenging course with many interesting holes. Wind, elevation changes, and tricky greens, make it a good test.
Great course, poor pro shop staff
I am not sure if the pro shop staff felt here comes another GOLFNOW customer but was rude, pushy and I did not feel welcome. Not a good start to our morning. We brushed it aside and found a great course. The greencrew were everywhere and very good with waiting while we played golf. The clubhouse service was fantastic also. Too bad the guy in the pro shop ruined my mood while on vacation and we will not be back.
Great Value
Reasonably priced and beautiful views makes this a great play in Maui. The course is challenging but playable from what ever tees you use. Staff are friendly and helpful. The only minor knock is the photo on the GPS screen to remind you about the snack shack at the turn is of a tantalizing hamburger, but none is available from the menu.
Well maintained course at an affordable price
If you are visiting Maui and want to play a lot of golf on a budget, be sure to include this course in your rotation. The course is maintained better than many of the resort courses, at half the price. The staff at Kahili is very friendly, too.
Tee off early to avoid the trade winds, which make the par 4's tougher to reach in two. All of the par 5's are fun holes, providing birdie opportunities. 18 is a disappointing finishing hole..., could benefit from a re-design.
My Favorite Maui Course
You can't beat Kahili! resting on the side of a mountain It's is a beautiful course, gentle trade winds, natural vegetation and Iyou will love the view of the ocean below. No, Condos, no houses, peacefully quiet.I love it there.
Not enjoyable.
The course itself is in good shape and was a reasonable price. However you are in a constant wind funnel along the mountains which does not allow you to enjoy the potential of the course. The strength of the wind is constant and the gusts become destracting and nearly make play impossible. A good drive or iron shot will quickly be taken well off line, with there being no chance to keep a swing tempo. I like a challenge, and even came back to try the track again, which only confirmed my thoughts. I will not come back, and wouldn't recommend friends to play.
Great value, and great views
This course is an excellent value and will give you all you want if you play the blue tees. If you are a beginner or a double digit handicap , play the whites. The greens have a lot of grain in them so make sure you look for that on all putts.
Don't pass it up
Between the other $200 rounds at the brand courses be sure to squeeze in a hot deal priced round here.
Great Staff & Nice Course
Played the course two days earlier and the staff remembered use, very friendly & took care of clubs on drop off & finish-you even get a cool wash cloth at the end to freshen up. The wind & greens are real factors, nice GPS on carts. My wife liked it,tee boxes give the ladies a nice advantage and shorten up the course. Play it.
