Mission Hills Club
About
Mission Hills Country Club in Northbrook opened in 1926 and over the years it has become a local favorite. The championship golf course measures to 2,897 yards from the back tees. Although it may seem relatively short by modern standards, the layout is spread across more than 130 acres of rolling woodlands that provide a spacious feel. Mature trees tightly line the fairways and there are several holes where water comes into play. This seemingly mild golf course is tougher than it first appears. It will test both your accuracy and course-management skills. Mission Hills Country Club's finishing hole is a demanding par 4 that features the most difficult green to putt with a lake to the left and sand bunkers all along the right. You'll want to keep your approach below the hole when you attempt to tackle the green.

Play somewhere else....
Course has great potential but was in terrible condition. Fairways and greens were awful. Looks like the course barely has a maintenance staff. Gofers were in jeans although their website says jeans are prohibited. There were water jugs out on the course that were totally empty. Total waste of time.
Older course that needs some TLC
Played early in the morning so course was wet. At first I thought it wasn't groomed because of the rain but as I got into the course you could tell they just do the minimum as far as mowing and course maintaince was concerned. Greens are in poor shape and rough and fairways are in bad shape. Sand traps are mud traps and some even have weeds growing in them. You can tell this was a really nice course at one time but is in sad shape now. Explains the cheap price. Would not go back unless I heard it had been improved
Overall great.
It's a good course but the only thing is how the service charge is too high for what it'it's worth.
A course near death
It is sad to watch a course die. This one is nearly dead and it looks hopeless to save. The fairways and greens are in poor shape, diseased and burned out, probably have not seen fertilizer or weed killer in a very long time based on the abundance of weeds. The bunkers have not been maintained in years, some have become vast weed farms (e.g. Hole 14 which has numerous weeds that are nearly a foot tall on hard pan). It is a tight layout but you can see that it was fun once upon a time.
Poor conditions
Been playing here for a couple years. Was a beautiful course, as time went on the conditions worsened. The fairways are in horrible shape, the bunkers barely have sand in them and are never raked, weeds growing in them. The greens are horrible. For a cheap price, yeah it's worth it to get out there and play but for full price I would never play there
The Course That Time Forgot
The course was in extremely rough condition. Greens and fairways were terrible. The cart path was horrendous, I had to drive just off in the rough to save my back. The surroundings are bizzare, it's like the skeleton of a formerly decent country club. The club house was bare bones and creepy. I wouldn't play here again, based on the course conditions.
This coarse is TERRIBLE
I wish I could show pictures of coarse conditions because words can't describe what has happened to this place it is tragic I showed pictures to anyone in the parking lot of this place to try and save people from a very bad experience after my round
Course condition
This is the worse course I have ever played and I suggest that anyone who is considering playing here only do so if the course pays them. The sand traps have no sand but do have plenty of weeds and dirt. They have most likely not been worked on in about two years. They have not watered this place yet this year.
Course needs major maintenance
Interesting layout, but course needs major maintenance. Dry, cracked, brown fairways and greens. Grass ans weeds growing in hard-packed bunkers.
wow
This is the roughest conditions I have ever seen in a course. I found it amusing. If you just want to get out for a discounted rate and move the ball around, this is that course.
The pro shop was very accommodating!
This course looks like it was once great
The layout of the course is nice, but the course looks like it is in great need of some TLC. The greens are burned out, the water hazards are swamps, the dead ash trees have not been removed, and there are divots everywhere. I kept thinking how great this course must have been years ago.
Needs so much work
The condition of this course is borderline unplayable. Greens are completely dead and iron shots bounce10-15 feet high. You literally have to land any approach shot before the green for it to stay on the green. Fairways are so dried out that they are cracking. The bunkers were full of weeds with little to no sand. There was garbage in the ponds and streams. This course should shut down until they get the playing condition under control.
A DUMP
The WoRST course i have ever played. Fairways were as hard a concrete an the sand traps had weeds and small shrubs growing in them. The grill was closed on a Sunday and they only had chips and candy bars to eat. Unbelievable this course had three stars. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Even for $30
Even for $30 this course is not worth it. Completely ignored and non maintained. Except for mowing, nothing is cared for. Weeds growing in the traps!! The greens diseased and hard like rock. Dead trees all over. DI NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
very dissapointed
do not recommend this course at all.greens in bad shape.
Needs some TLC
This my fourth time playing this course in three years. Seems like the T boxes and greens are in need of repair. Bunkers were not raked and had weeds growing out of them. Course has not been well maintained this year.
Do not play here
This used to be a private club. The property was sold to Red Seal Homes in 2014. Their plan is to build a 137 residential units on the east and south side perimeter of the property. That will eliminate nine of the existing holes 4-8 and 12-15. The remaining nine holes may be turned into open space or operated as a nine hole course in the future. So the developer has absolutely no incentive to invest in at least nine of the holes or the clubhouse. They are just trying to generate some revenue while they are trying to sell the new homes, instead of letting the course and tennis courts go fallow and upsetting the existing residents of the community . You should not consider playing here because the course conditions are terrible and will not get any better.
Beat Up
The Course is beat up, its in bad shape. There were many tee boxes that were big time beat up, the bunkers are not playable - they haven't been touched by a maintenance crew in sometime. Some greens were also beat up and in bad shape. The greens keeper if there is one also does not know how to put cups in, on every green u can see where the old cup was and its either brown or not put back in the ground. The place is old and tired. There is no ranger, the pro shop cashier, is that, the ranger and the starter all in one, very friendly but wearing way to many hats. I would not go back, for the price is a good deal as beats the Chicago Park District courses but thats about it.
Stay Away
This course used to be a hidden gem but lack of attention by ownership has turned it into a disaster. What a shame. Started with a chewed up first tee and went downhill from there. Only 3 or 4 greens were good enough to roll a nice putt. Weeds in traps, in fairways, on greens, and every tee.
