Mission Hills Club
About
Mission Hills Country Club in Northbrook opened in 1926 and over the years it has become a local favorite. The championship golf course measures to 2,897 yards from the back tees. Although it may seem relatively short by modern standards, the layout is spread across more than 130 acres of rolling woodlands that provide a spacious feel. Mature trees tightly line the fairways and there are several holes where water comes into play. This seemingly mild golf course is tougher than it first appears. It will test both your accuracy and course-management skills. Mission Hills Country Club's finishing hole is a demanding par 4 that features the most difficult green to putt with a lake to the left and sand bunkers all along the right. You'll want to keep your approach below the hole when you attempt to tackle the green.

Poor condition
Poor condition overall especially green. Lots of devot should be repaired.
Good times
The course was challenging however there are lots of hidden water and lots of bunkers.
not impressed
poor course conditions greens had patches had a golf and lunch package, was not allowed to choose food items that were on website
Great value
Great value for the course with very mature landscape and difficulty
Unplayable Conditions
I have played this course numerous times over the past few years. Have always been a big fan and supporter. They have the cheapest rates and you can get on at any time. I would not play there again if it was free. It appears that they are just letting the course conditions go. The greens were like fairways. what were some of the faster more challenging greens have grown out to the point that the ball bounces to the hole. The rough was US Open quality, appears to have not been cut in weeks. This made for many lost balls and alot of time wasted looking for shots that were 5 yards off of the fairway. The traps have not been maintained. Like hitting off a parking lot and many unplayable. To make matters worse, they had a strict sign on every cart that if you left the cart path, you would be thrown off of the course without a refund. The course had some soft spots but for the most part was dry. After about 5 holes we ignored the rule stating that they would be doing us a favor to send us home from the cow pasture. Putting was more like croquet, not golf. After the 16th hole we went home. Too bad as it was a nice course in its day.
Patronize!
Great course. New owners will make you feel at home.
more challenge than length
It won't beat you with length, but strategic placement can be key and the greens to undulate enough for a good challenge.
The greens were great in July but were recently aerrated. A good value at under $50 on the weekend. Would like 1 more par 5.
Bad day to play
Greens had been sanded day before and then rained and greens were cover in streaks of sand. The course has been neglected. Lots of dead trees, cart paths are in bad shape. Tee boxes had not been well cared for. Course is challenging and has some interesting holes. Narrow in places. It would be a shame though if this course were to close after this year as proposed to make way for housing development.
Very Disappointing
I can honestly say this is the worst course I have visited in the Chicago area. At every tee box the trash cans were overflowing with an immense amount of garbage on the ground. None of the watering stations had a water cooler in them. In fact most of the watering stations were filled with garbage. The greens were some of the worst I've ever seen. The tee boxes on the par 3's had virtually no grass on them. The bathrooms in the clubhouse had only one working toilet. The stench from the bathrooms by the 15th tee was enough to warrant finding a tree. The bunkers were hard with very little sand and had weeds growing out of them.
I played this for $35. For that price you can find much better courses that aren't as unsightly or foul smelling. Stay away from this defective, shameful, disaster of a course.
Short / Accurate / Good Course
The course is not long, but you can use driver on all but 2 of the par 4s, and that's due to water and marsh being 275 yards from tee box. The greens play well, the fairways are well kept, the sand isn't that soft and the tee boxes on par 3s are below average. The course will play a little slow due to the length. We drove the green on a few holes but other than that you need to be pinpoint accurate. My buddies and I had a great time playing, will definitely go back this summer.
Not so polished
Nice course but not nearly close to where it used to be. Layout is nice but conditions are not polished. Has potential to be really nice with sone needed upgrades to fairways and greens.
Showing its age
A short and tight course, plenty of opportunity to get into trouble, but it reminds me of a threadbare pair of pants. Worn and badly in need of attention. The greens are decent for having just been aerated. The sand traps are quite embarrassing. Most have more weeds in them than sand. The layout is peculiar as well since there are long distances through the maze of condos to get to some of the tees. There are a lot of opportunities to score well on the course if you just hit the ball straight (long is not required).
Smiling
For a short track, each hole provided choices and the layout was fun! Challenges were abundant as most holes are tight. Greens rolled well. Many more elderly and female players than anything, so pace is progressive. I'll be back! Had fun and next time I'll know where not to hit it!
Not so good.
No rule enforcement , tees are 80 % divots , water sprinkler on when we were playing on the greens , so , obviously we could not finish the holes . The field it's short , manteinence lack but designe its good and challenging.
what a value, best in chicagoland....
enjoyed a gorgeous day at mission hills yesterday. Played rather poorly, but that was not the courses fault, though the trees did come into play often. However, the course is in great shape, and the greens were the truest i have played this year. AND, $20 with cart was unreal especially with the course in very good shape. Have fun, play there....
poor conditions
Awful greens and lots of clover everywhere. Need to invest in improvements.
waste of time and money
I don't write reviews of courses but felt compelled to do so here.
do NOT play this course. They obviously just opened this up to the public because they were going broke and need to drum up revenue.
This course/clubhouse is stuck in the 1950's. The men's bathroom in the clubhouse was a horror show with broken stalls and the other toilets you wanted no part of.
course is burnt out. its like playing on concrete and a lot of brown patches. Course is pretty tight with small greens. Layout is very funky and there are a lot of holes that run next to each other which you could hear FORE being yelled out a lot during the round
we actually walked off after 9. we played the front nine in 2:50 minutes. totally unacceptable. they keep harping on 4:30 pace of play but you have a combo of very old men and every hacker in the Chicago area playing.
save your money and your sanity. there are SO many other courses to play that are 10X better than this goat farm
Good but course needs work
This was my first time playing at this course. Staff very friendly and reasonably priced via GolfNow. The holes are challenging but course needs some water to get the grass greener. The tee boxes were pretty beat up and the course needs some general maintenance i.e weeds growing in bunkers, water hazards not groomed, etc.
I will say for the price, I would play there again. The course is challanging.
Short but challenging
Be selective with your club choice. Your accuracy will be your advantage over the others in your foursome.
