Aldeen Golf Club

I get to play aldeen about every 2-3 years for the past 20 years. Always a pleasure to go there, but this day proved to me that the park district has cut their budget for sure. The large putting green which is ALWAYS in perfect condition every time I go there, was badly burnt out in some big spots. The greens on the course rolled at about 8.0 and the rough had bare patches and weeds that you never did see in previous years. This has been the easiest WINTER, SPRING, and SUMMER with cool and wet weather and ALL golf courses are in excellent condition, BUT NOT ALDEEN. If you were told to expect conditions for an average municipal public course, then your expectations would be met, however Aldeen has commanded respect and proven to host many tournaments and always be in good or very good condition... NOT TODAY BUDDY BOY.... Moderate disappointment mainly on the greens, but like mentioned, overall conditioning 1-2 notches off of what it has been historically. Great layout and fun course, but the average conditions tee-to-green, and slightly below average green conditions made this a disappointing 1 hour drive for sure.

If you are a golf enthusiast who does not mind a challenge, DO NOT miss the opportunity to play this course. It is as good a track as I have played in recent years. Tough, but fair. It was an absolute delight to play just because of the surroundings. More of a small country club feel than a public golf course.

An added feature was the clubhouse. Decent pro shop and a wonderful restaurant.

If you are in the Rockford area get there!

Aldeen is an excellent golf course with a challenging layout, but kept in fantastic condition. The staff was friendly and the area for food was relaxing and comfortable. Highly recommended!

Gorgeous course. Pace was pretty good with only some waiting to hit. Carts had to stay on the cart path due to swamps everywhere! Bar staff was slow and didn't want to wait on us :( Overall, worth every penny!

In the Rockford area, you will not find a better public course with this quality. The consistency of the greens, the manicured fairways, and the solid challenge of every hole, keeps me coming back. Hit'em straight!! That's the key on this beautiful course.

Such a beautiful challenging course with wide open fairways and a lot of water. This is a professional course. We loved playing there!

One of the best municipal courses in the mid-west, visually beautiful yet demanding your attention at every turn!

We are retired so we have to watch for a deal . We sure did find one . It is such an enjoyment to play your course . I did take the time to appreciate the beauty

We play this course almost weekly and love to come back. The staff couldn't be more helpful and do great job. Now is the best time of year to play with nice cool days but you are booking college golfers tee times on Sundays from 9 to 3? Again we have played this course twenty or more times and now we have to go to another course? Doesn't seem to make sense not to mention how slow they play.

I have played this course many times this year. It is a great course, with the exception of two things. 1) geese are everywhere along with their feces, greens, tee boxes and fairways. And the biggest course issue 2) there is no control of people jumping on the course. Almost every time I have played this course, somebody jumps on a hole out of order, today a 3 some jumped in right in front of my group. Some play a few holes and then pick other holes to play. I pay green fees as required but I have yet to play this course when someone isn't pressuring me or I stand and wait in a fairway while the group in front takes their time.

Course was in great shape. Greens were rock hard and extremely fast....avoid putting downhill at all costs. Water and trees make shots off the fairway difficult. Great price just far from chicagoland.

I can't wait to play this course again!

What a great course located in the heart of Rockford's Northeast side! So much fun, especially with nice weather. Challenging but par is still attainable.

We've heard great things about the course and when a great deal through Golfnow Deal caddy came up, then we knew it is time.

Our check-in wasn't the most pleasant start as one of the shop staff wasn't quite sure how to handle the voucher we presented. I was there for about 20 mins arguing my case that it was pre-paid but she keep insisting that we have to pay on course. Fortunately, another person took care of the situation with much better results.

We then head to the practice facility and the attendant offered us complimentary range balls. I'm not sure if it was a gesture to rectify the issue earlier at the pro-shop, but it was very much appreciated. Either way, a very nice touch and it makes a huge difference !

We got paired with a really nice couple and we couldn't be happier. Since it was our first time playing the course, their local knowledge was extremely helpful.

We decided to play the Aldeen tees so we can acclimate ourselves and learn the nuances of the course and also to protect the pace of play. But next time, we are definitely play from the blues.

The course was in great shape and greens are rolling true. Each hole presents a different shot making strategy. While the overall pace of play was nice, there was quite a backup the last 4 holes. It would have been nice if there was course marshall present to monitor the play.

Overall, it was a great golfing experience and well worth our 50 mile drive. A great value and a well maintained municipal course.
