To bad it will be gone soon
Nice course for average player and it's to bad Rockford is going to shut this course down soon. Maybe they should stop putting all the money into Aldeen since we didn't need a 200k bathroom between hole 15 and 16!!
Rocks in sandtraps
Still rocks in traps. Greens were very nice albeit a little slow
Elicit golf course
I feel the golf course is a very nice layout gives you opportunities to hit all your clubs and seems to be run very nice and the reads are in very good shape and a good value for the money
To many groups walking just two.
Slow five hour round three groups waiting on some tee boxes.
Course is terrible shape with rough so high you can't find a ball that is a foot of the fairway! Greens are all nicked up and even have cuts in them from them cutting it to low leaving huge tears in them. I know Elloit is not a upscale course in town but it;s really lacking compared to Ingersol or Sandy Hollow,
This course needs some serious work
I play Elliot on a fairly regular basis, and have played it since it opened almost 50 years ago. This year course maintenance has gone downhill. There are dandelions on the tees, water in the "sand" traps and overgrown areas that need to be mowed. The traps have water and a lot of rocks in them. We play no bunkers due to their condition. The good things: friendly staff, good club house, electric carts(big PLUS), great large greens and it is close to home (10 minutes).
Fun to play
Had very good conditions all around. Recommend you play this old course. Lots of challenges, as well as fun holes to play.
Park District - HELP!
We played a week ago (5/7/2018) and the course conditions needed desperate help. There are weeds growing in many of the sandtraps along side the large rocks and stones that are just waiting to damage those expensive set of irons you have. It appears the Rockford Park District is letting this course go and not spending to keep it in the excellent shape it was in a few short years ago.
Elliot golf course is a great public course.. Greens get alot of play but still the ball runs pretty true.. Hey you others, fix ur ball marks abd rake the traps or go to some other city...
Course has nice laout
Very nice layout for all levels of play from beginner to advanced. Great value and nice amenities
The course was in kind of rough shape. I know it is earlier in the year but played ingersol the day before and ingersol was in much better shape than Elliot which is unusual. Overall though Elliot is a fun course and a good value.
First Round of the Year 2018
Course was in pretty good shape for the time of year. First 60° day/weekend, expected it to be a lot busier. Greens and Fairways we're good. Tee Boxes and Traps will need some attention, very early in the season, I expect this will change to the better. Rockford, Illinois has some of the best courses in the state. Elliot is one of them.
Got a hot deal. $15. Per person, cart included , 18 holes.
Wide open, forgiving fairways, decent greens.
A little early in season , so grass not quite green yet, still great outing .
Best part of experience was the generous staff. Woman at club house in a.m. and men in p.m. all wonderful people at this course.
I shall return.
