Woodlands Golf Club, which sits only 30 minutes from St. Louis, is known for having some of the area's best greens. The putting surfaces roll true and hold well on the approach. This public course has garnered a local following thanks to not only its green conditions but also the affordable rates. With a diverse landscape and unique hole designs, it's definitely a shot-maker's layout. You'll probably use every club in your bag on this golf course. A long creek winds across the entire layout, coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers that lurk along the greensides. Although Woodlands Golf Club is relatively short at just over 6,400 yards from the back tees, it feels much longer thanks to a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic.

Needs Water
The layout of Woodlands is nice, but the course needs some serious attention. The greens are decent, and fairway/rough are just okay, but the tee boxes are likely the worst in the immediate area (extremely bare and hard). While it has been dry, the tee boxes have not changed much within the past few years, so I'm not sure that could be the sole reason. If they could get the tee boxes squared away, it would become a nice course again.
Nice Course
This is a nice course. Challenging you'll need some golf shots here. Great value for the money!
Tee boxes and sand traps are not managed.
Course conditions are rough. I’m not sure that there was one sand trap that was ready for golf. The tee boxes haven’t seen much attention in years. It seems like they are just going through the motions.

Impressed
The golf course was top notch and well kept. My friends and I were all impressed with course and the greens were excellent. The only complaint was the golf carts. They are rough and need some attention but they did tell me new carts are coming around July 3 I believe.
Fairways
The fairways were hard as concrete possibly due to weather. Other than that I liked the course, the pace of play was ideal.

Deep Mixed Grass Rough
This is a beautiful tract everyone should play at least once if in the area. A little bit of improvement construction work going on and some tee boxes need work. Green are perfectly rolling and fairways are nice zoysia . Beware of the mixed breed rough that I was told is always cut quite high. That probably is a welcome challenge for an elite ballstriker. Not so good for the 90% rest of us. It’s a real shame because this great layout with evenly cut modest height rough would be enough challenge in that it has so many other features going for it . Anyway, the views starting the round on 1, going down 17, and climbing back uphill to finish 18 with the clubhouse background are worth the price of admission alone. So I guess the locals just bring plenty of cheap balls and go. Maybe someday the owner will figure how many folks play once and done and cut his rough to a level that makes practical business sense.
Needs some TLC
Played this course on a visit to my son in college. Popped out at 6:30am on a Saturday and was first off. Cruised around in 3 hours by myself. Tees are in rough shape, but fairways and most greens are nice. Little gimmicky layout in spots, but some of that was simply my unfamiliarity. Tough to walk as two holes on back run parallel - in the same direction - on B9. In addition, a Routing change means some holes are not properly identified (#16 has the #7 tee marker). I’m sure those issues will get addressed, but in the interim, it can be confusing.

Still waiting on grass in the fairways just like most courses but their greens were awesome, it and fast but roles smooth.

First time here
Some of the greens have bare/thin spots. Several tee boxes are not very level and have sparse grass. Very odd layout and it could definitely use more signage about where to go next. They have changed the course around and you start on the old back 9. If using a GPS get the reference card from the pro shop to tell you what hole to select to match what you will actually be playing. Overall I’d go back because it’s convenient and mid day price was good.

Wasted Saturday
Went and tried out this course with a couple buddies on a saturday and turned into a 6 hour round… for 3 people. They had a tournament that ran long and at one point (on the 9th hole) there were a total of 17 people on one hole. 9 carts on one freaking hole, all waiting to hit. The absolute worst way to enjoy a round. No money back, no apologies, no efforts to speed up the play. Finished 18 in the dark. Won’t be back.
