Swan Creek Golf Club is one of the best-kept secrets in central Illinois. Located on the west end of Little Swan Lake in Avon, the Jim Spear design features unexpected terrain and elevation changes throughout its 18 holes. Carefully manicured fairways and bunkers, as well as some of the most dramatic topography in this part of the country, are reasons to add Swan Creek G.C. -- about a three-hour drive from Chicago -- to your list.

Diamond in the corn
This club is well off the beaten path. Was an excellent round. The 10, 11, and 12 swing is one of the best hole combinations i have played. Cart are old but usable. Pro shops little lean but has all you should need. Love the facility. Its a beautiful course nestled against a lake.
Drove from Peoria
Great coarse and looks easy if you're in the middle of the fairway but I played from the ruff ,the only downside is the cart paths
Sunday Excursion
Was extremely surprised at the quality of the layout. Some challenging and flat out gorgeous holes. It feels a little like Galena. A must play. Very nice people too!
Worth the drive from Peoria.
Great day, quick pace, challenging course. We did not know what to expect way out in the middle of farmland. Warning...print directions if you have ATT as a carrier because we lost GPS signal a half hour out. It was definitely worth the ride .
Swan Creek Review
Drove 1.5 hours to play this course and was glad I did. Played after a tournament earlier in the day so I was able to finish in 3.5 hours. Course was in very good shape even with all the rain we have been having lately. Very scenic. I recommend this course and plan to play it again soon.
Worth the trip
Great course near Avon, Illinois. Where is this? About 20 miles north of Macomb, Illinois where Western Illinois University resides.
Word is mouth brought me here on my return trip from Phoenix. As I neared course the directionals sent me thru miles of cornfields. Pulled in, teed off and was finished with an 80 in 2.5 hours.
Nice layout. Crooked. Lots of change of altitude. Challenging. I'll be happy to play again when in area. For me it's almost 4 hours from home. Good prices.
HIDDEN JEWEL
AFTER DRIVING AROUND LOOKING FOR THE COURSE WE FINALLY FOUND IT. CLUB HOUSE SURELY NOTHING TO BRAG ABOUT AND E
WE WERE WONDERING WHY WE WERE HERE. AFTER FINDING THE FIRST TEE, NOT VERY WELL MARKED AND PLAYING THE FIRST HOLE, WE WERE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. GREAT COURSE WITH DIFFERENT HOLES AND IN GREAT SHAPE. WOULD DEFINITELY PLAY AGAIN. BEST $25 COURSE I EVER PLAYED
Hidden fun
Long drive to location, but worth the trip. I would consider this a somewhat hidden gem. Greens were in great shape, fairways in good shape. Love the layout, some unique features. Staff is extremely friendly. Will definitely play again.
An unexpected, well maintained, manicured course
I had played the front nine back in the 1990's when it was under a different and much less caring management. The improvements that the Westfall family has made are startling. The greens, fairways and bunkers are all up to the standards seen in the Chicago metropolitan area. The course plays fairly to the average golfer, not overly penalizing on errant shots. Lots of room to recover a hole yet challenging enough to provide a fun time. The back nine, added only a few years ago, is very beautiful and interesting. I can't wait to come back!
We love this course!
This course challenges the novice and the experienced golfer alike. With many water features that are not impossible to overcome, this course keeps you on your toes.
great course for the cost
great course for the cost with friendly staff and owners
Best greens around!!
Not a fancy golf club and many of the cart paths could use some work but ultimately a great value and the greens were fantastic.
Fantastic Greens
Great little course for such a rural area. Fun layout. Front 9 greens were just aerated but the greens on the back were some of the best I have seen in a long time.
