White Deer Run Golf Course
About
Situated on the Cuneo Estate in Vernon Hills, White Deer Run Golf Club has a beautiful landscape dotted with sparkling lakes. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, meaning there are some uneven lies and the occasional blind shot in store for you. There are not many trees but numerous bunkers lurk beside the greens and, of course, water is a pretty prominent presence throughout the golf course. Due to the plentiful and strategically placed hazards, the course puts a premium on accuracy. The layout is challenging but fair and it is also player friendly enough for beginners, offering ample room off of the tees. White Deer Run Golf Club's design contributes greatly to the course's playability, but that is also partly due to the immaculately manicured fairways and fast, well conditioned greens.

Beautiful course and good challenging hole
Great course. Fun to play but still has its challenges. Recommend you try it you won't be disappointed.
unfriendly staff
From the head pro/Gm.-Bob Malpede to the check in counter and to the starter--ALL NEED CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING! Nobody to take bags from car--give a cart --no welcome to our club. Actually stood at check in , by myself for at least 30 seconds while the guy behind the counter looked at a clipboard, put it away and finally said "yes"! The course is not so special, charging more $$ than other courses; however with a lousy staff, I probably will not return. The GM, who I was told has been there a long time needs an attitude adjustment; it is obvious why his staff are the way they are!
rushed me. and gave me no warmup opportunity
I arrived 30 minutes early only to have me rushed thru the back nine and told i needed to start immediately or i would be stuck on the course
Not a good 1st experience. Gave me 0 warmup time even though i arrived 30 minutes early.
great layout, great price.
The only bad part were the sand traps. There are many of them and they need help. Some of the greens were
a little hacked up because people don't want to fix their ball marks? Other than those two minor flaws
this is a great course. For the last minute golfer rate it's
worth the long drive to Vernon Hills.
Will play again soon!!!
First Visit to White Deer Run
This is an excellent and challenging track, that is well bunkered. It helped to play with people that were familiar with the course so that I could get pointers on where to hit my tee shots and when to use something other than driver. (The starter staff hooked me up with a great threesome that knew the course well.) The layout is good. The rough it a bit tough. The greens are in great condition and a bit fast compared to most public courses I have played of late. The price for a senior player (over 52) makes it a great deal! I'm headed back there again.
Slow play today
It was difficult to play a five hour round in the high heat. This isn't always the norm. The cart girl was a lifesaver. She was there every few holes with fresh drinks and ice. The course was in impeccable shape except for the sand traps which held water from rain the night before. If you don't mind paying the high price of $80 for a Park District course, it's worth it. I would hold out for the one Golf Now Hot Deal per day offered at $50.
Challenging layout
Pace of play on the back nine was very slow, almost 2 hours 45 minutes - never saw a ranger
Also, some of the bunkers are a little"thin" on sand.
Great course
Cant see myself paying 75 dollars for a round of golf but the 40 dollar hot deal sold me. Great course, friendly staff, they even wipe down your clubs after 9 and 18. Big fan of the in cart gps and course coverage tablet. Definitely needed the flyover to avoid all the fairway sand.
Just OK
I played using a hot deal. For that price it was worth playing. I would not play this course and pay $75. It is not worth that price.
Nice course! Feels a little like Florida style.
Course can be as challenging as you wish to make it depending on the set of tees
you choose. Nice greens. Would definitely play again.
White Deer Run Great Track
White Deer Run is a fantastic track. A challenging golf course with some room for forgiveness. Sadly we were cart path only due to the amount of rain the course took in;however, the course was in great shape. If you have a chance I would certainly recommend playing White Deer Run. You will not be disappointed. Thank You White Deer Run for a Fun and challenging day.
Great course
Love this course but was disappointed that we were not informed that the greens had been just aerated making the greens much less than perfect. This information should have been shared at the time I made the tee time reservation. Otherwise, a great experience.
I like
Tees were up and still played challenging. Granted there was like 80mph winds. Nice layout. Awesome conditions. The 18th fairway was so nice we couldn't tell if we were on the green or the fairway. Need to plan your shots smartly out there. Great brats and dogs at the turn. I felt the majority of the greens were very tough to hit into as they were protected from big bunkers, water, and downslopes a foot off the green. Even the average golfer would strongly tested.
Great course, beautiful setting
Course was fantasically manicured, staff was very friendly, food was exceptional. Definitely worth the money. Only downside was sand bunkers in need of work, other than new bunker on 18. Overall great public golf course.
A great place for golf
The course was in wonderful shape. The staff was friendly. The pace was perfect. Got a nice rate on Golf Now and would do it again tomorrow.
Diverse Layout and Fellow Golfers
Excellent day. The course was in very good condition. The best feature aside from the course itself, was the etiquette displayed by the other golfers. As a single, the groups ahead graciously allowed me to play through. After three groups in 4 holes, it was smooth sailing. It was nice to be allowed to play through.
Quality Layout
Upscale well conditioned course.
Tough. But with course management you'll traverse w/o too many penalties.
Pro shop and starter were sympathetic to single who could get caught in the mix.
Big storm rapidly passed and we were out as soon as it was safe.
Paid $43 with Hot Deal. Great price. I wouldn't pay anything near rack rate though. Price wise, they're unrealistic.
I'll return with similar deal.
Very Nice
Great track with interesting holes. Worth it to go and give it a shot.
Nice public course, but not at the full rate
Fairways were in really good condition. Bunkers were basically packed dirt with a lot of rocks, no real sand. Rough off the fairway wasn't too bad and about average. Rough around the green was excessive in certain spots and extremely thick/high which made off the green shots challenging. Greens were extremely soft and not in great shape, maybe because it's a public facility but i only play public courses and i've seen a lot better for a lot less money. All in all it's a nice play to play but only at a discounted rate off a discount golf site, i would never play at full rate there are other places that have a better value.
