White Deer Run Golf Course
About
Situated on the Cuneo Estate in Vernon Hills, White Deer Run Golf Club has a beautiful landscape dotted with sparkling lakes. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, meaning there are some uneven lies and the occasional blind shot in store for you. There are not many trees but numerous bunkers lurk beside the greens and, of course, water is a pretty prominent presence throughout the golf course. Due to the plentiful and strategically placed hazards, the course puts a premium on accuracy. The layout is challenging but fair and it is also player friendly enough for beginners, offering ample room off of the tees. White Deer Run Golf Club's design contributes greatly to the course's playability, but that is also partly due to the immaculately manicured fairways and fast, well conditioned greens.

great course
the best gps for golfer everything about the course was great
Starter Issues
Starter was weak. Appeared confused. Sent 2 twosomes out in front of our group without matching them up. Play was slow and no sign of ranger. Course was in very good shape.
GREAT COURSE
COURSE WAS IN GREAT CONDITION ,FRONT SIDE GREENS SANDY STILL ROLLED GOOD . NO PERSON CLEANED CLUBS AFTER ROUND
Great pace of play!
I played at 1:30p on a Sunday, was completed in 4 hours flat. The starter was friendly and the course was maintained in great condition. My only issue was at times the Gold tees appeared to be at the championship tees! This made the course extremely challenging. I was happy to get out with a score in the 80s. And the greens were soft yet quick which was a treat considering the wacky weather and my recent rounds playing higher end courses that either player like sidewalks or were overly slow.
Always a great time at WDR
WDR is a wonderful course, there are some very fun and challenging holes and then there is hole no. 9 which is a terrible hole. Overall I enjoy playing there and due to it's proximity it remains a staple in my rotation. The course was in very good shape, greens were fast and rolled true. The bunkers, however, are as a whole in bad shape...most of the greenside bunkers were ok but many fairway and some just off the green were basically gravel, yes the consistancy of the sand was that of gravel with small rocks throughout and in one fw bunker I was in there was many large rocks that would've damaged even a Ping club. The staff in the shop and at the range are always great and very friendly which was no different today.
Nice course, well maintained.
Nice course. Pace of play was good. Not a lot of golfers on a beautiful day, might indicate that the fees are pricey. Course was in good shape. Greens well maintained. Rough was long off the greens making missed approach shots a real penalty. Paid $69 on a Sunday with Golf Now, normally $89. Price is in-line with similar maintained courses in Chicago, however course was pretty empty that day.
If you love your driver, this is the course for you!
They are not lying when they say the course is long. Your driver is your friend on this course along with the friendly fairways. The greens are red hot and play true. This is definitely a course you need to experience.
Believe the hype
Had this course recommended to me by several folks that know the north side courses well. Definitely lived up to expectations with a slope of 140 from the blues. Lots of bunkering and tough green complexes ... was challenged on every shot. Tough greens (and even tougher pin placements) so every facet of your game will be tested.
Had a blast, will definitely play again soon
Great Course
The course is in great shape and the new carts with color GPS is nice. I play here a lot and it never disappoints!
Good layout. I like a course where each hole gives you a different look.
The weather forecast scared everyone away and I only saw 2-twosomes and 1 single on the course which allowed me to play 18 holes in 2 hours, 40 minutes. The course is very well maintained and the greens were firm and fast which surprised me considering the amount of rain we have received. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a course I will take my friends to when they come to town for a visit.
Nice track, housing does not detract.
The conditions were very good, especially for April after all of the rain. Course seemed to drain exceptionally well. Greens were very fast and fairways were excellent.
I like the layout, visually interesting, fun to bet on, because there is enough trouble to get you into trouble or make you feel good if you avoid it, without being unfair.
Beautifully green
This was a great afternoon with only a strong wind making things more difficult. I will definitely be going back when summer leaves out the trees to just add more beauty.
Need more rakes in traps!
Good course - need more rakes out in traps some had none at all.
Sand traps not all prepared, overall course is superb. Very early still
It is early in the season and it rained heavily on Vernon Hills and the whole area lately. Considering this, I was very impressed by the overall condition of the course. Although a bit wet, the fairways were very clean and the grass well cut. Most sand traps were not turned so the ball sat on top of hard sand like a beach beaten by waves. It should soon be corrected.
The greens were in excellent condition, hard, fast with surfaces free of bumps and holes.
I will return soon.
A Top 5 course in northern Illionois. Great risk reward layout.
Beautiful greens, fairways, and practice facilities. Get there early to enjoy the large putting green and grab a bite from the top notch resturaunt, snack shop, or bar. Great Par 3's. Study the scorecard for your best round. Bite off as much as you can chew on the 18th tee shot. Great facility, well maintained.

The course was not ready to be opened
Green and tees were never touched, on the greens and tees over 4 month old goose waste were all over to the point we gave up putting. on the tees we had to look for spot to tee off without stepping on it. Sand trap were never touched also, there were big holes and garbage all over. The whole course were covered with old and new goose waste. All the restrooms were lock up. When I complained to the staff on duty, he showed no care. I want my money back.
rude ranger
this rude dude has been hurrying us up starting from the 9th hole up to the 11th hole, overall we finished the round in 4 1/2 hours. Also the group behind us in the 10th hole hit prematurely while we are still in the 10th fairway and this ranger was still there and he did not prevent them from doing so, overall the other members of the golfing staff are nice and the course is great considering the time of the year we played except for this RANGER GUY
Greens in perfect super fast shape!
Greens are maintained at top shelf level roll like a pool table hold well. fairways and tees are in excellent shape especially for this time of year!
A great course
Went out there on a 45 degree day and went through in under 4 hours in one of the most enjoyable golf experiences I've had. Although the rough had been thoroughly cored and the greens recently aerated, it was all done is such a way that the course conditions were still incredibly enjoyable. The greens were still very flat and rolled very true (and fast). The fairways were in immaculate condition and the undulation of the course is enough to make you think but not outrageous. Different green shapes and sizes make each approach unique and the GPS in the gold carts is about the best I have used complete with hole flyovers and the ability to send your scorecard via email at the end of the round.
