Good Golf Course
Nice layout, challenging, and beautiful setting with nature all around.
Good golf outing
The Course Layout is Good, The sand pits need a little work and the greens and fairways are in good condition, Will play again. Our threesome had a good time. Thanks
Unbelievable
Went there for a round with friends and got called off of the course for lightening. Once off the course, the worker that would not let us return to play proceeded to go outside and putt on the putting green once the rain went away. He would go outside, putt on the green, then come inside to tell us we were delayed 30 more minutes. Me and my group were not allowed rain check despite the fact that a group right in front of us was granted one. I understand that it’s not safe to play in lightening, but if your employee is out on the putting green playing, telling others that they can’t play is not a great look. I will never go back.
Best Value and best layout in southern Illinois
If you have never played Hickory Ridge you are really missing out.
Price
For the money this is the absolute best value in southern Illinois and southern Indiana. Hot Deal for 18 holes with a cart at Hickory Ridge was $30 after taxes. Incredible price. Even their normal price at the course is very very good for what your getting. If you were blindfolded and took to the first tee and didn’t know where you were at and was told to play 18 holes and at the end was told to tell what you thought the greens fee would cost for this course it would easily be $70 to $90. If I was on vacation in Panama City Beach I would pay $80 to $100 greens fee for this course.
Conditions
Fairways are nice. Only a few spots in the fairways that are having turf problems. But they are small areas and hardly even noticeable.
Tee boxes are very nice. Giant tee boxes and they are in excellent shape and they are level.
Greens
Good shape have some small areas on the edges that are giving them problems but they are small areas and not really ever affecting any putts. Speed of the greens are about middle of the road, they are not fast and they are not slow. I prefer a touch faster green speed but they were ok. They are soft and approach shots hold very easily.
Layout
This is my favorite aspect of Hickory Ridge. This is a tough golf course and a shot makers golf course. It’s got some very tricky holes and rewards accuracy off the tee but don’t be fooled into thinking you can hit driver all day. It’s tight and the layout forces you into hitting some hybrids and irons off some of the tee boxes but even doing that there is many times there is hardly any room for error. If you have good long iron game and wedge game you will love this course.
My handicap is a 3
Great value
Our group plays Hickory Ridge a half dozen times a year. We always enjoy ourselves on the generous fairways and rolling hills, and we’ve landed some great deals using Golf Now. Most tee shots are fairly forgiving, but a handful require an accurate shot between stands of mature timber. Greens are large, nicely contoured and always well maintained. The staff take Covid seriously and made use feel safe. This a beautiful course well worth the drive.
Great round of Golf
Staff was very professional as always. Course was in good shape. Only real problem was the sand trapes. Alot of weeds ext in them but because of the " Covid" I understand why they hadn't been taken care of yet. The rest of the course was in great shape. Definitely will play here again.
Great course great golf
Love this place and its challenge... Always in great shape and the people are so friendly
Incredible Course
Some of the best golf I have ever had a chance to play
Beautiful and well kept
Bunkers were dried up and uncared for but overall good course
Incredible course
Incredible course, great staff and a great time. We cannot wait to play it again
Beware of the bunkers!!!
Overall it wasn't a bad course but I would've rated it higher but all the bunkers were basically waste areas! No sand and they were crusty dirt and it play as if they were ground under repair. Other than that fairways and greens weren't bad.
Great course
Was very surprised at what an exceptional course this was based on its location. We drove through some very small towns to get to this course but it was worth it. This course was beautiful rolling hills with tree lined fairways, and with zoysia fairways. The greens were perfect and pretty quick based on it being fall. We enjoyed the course so much that we are going to plan another golf weekend just to go back and play here.
