Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville has a unique layout with a front nine that is designed in a Scottish-links style and a back nine that plays through rolling woodlands. The links holes are framed with native prairie grasses and wildflowers while mature oak trees line the fairways on the back nine. There are plenty of elevation changes throughout the golf course, making it hard to find a flat lie. Mounding and strategically placed bunkers lurk treacherously along the greensides and there are also several holes with water. Far Oaks Golf Club is a challenging course that demands accuracy, which is most apparent on the 10th hole. Although it's not the longest par 4 on the course, it is still challenging thanks to a slew of bunkers that border both sides of the green.

Always in the Top 3 in the area to play

Overall it's the course to play when you want a good outing. Rarely is this course is bad condition, if it is other are much worse.

Haven't played in a few years, they removed the GPS from the charts. Not a show stopper by any means.

If you are a weekly golfer, I suggest playing the BLUEs, the WHITE tees are very short. They are listed at 5600ish but they seem to play closer to around 5400.

I used 4, 5 and 6 iron off the WHITE tees 80%. My second shot after that were only 150-170 out after starting with irons. *why i said seems shorter*

Great course to learn how to play smart, if you pull a driver or wood out each tee box you can get into trouble quickly make this a *challenging course*
If you play smart golf it's a *moderate course*.

Challenging course.

Greens had just been sanded but other than that it’s in good shape. Beautiful sand traps and I liked the feel of the sand and my ability to get out of them.

Nothing To Complain About With February Golf At Far Oaks

Difficult to review a course in February, but I could not complain about anything. All the bunker reconstruction is complete. The bunkers they have kept are white sand now. It will look really good when the grass turns green.

The greens fee of $34 for February is tremendous for this quality of golf course. The greens were in good shape, smooth and had good speed.

Quality Course

Not the best time of year to really rate a course but they are always working to improve the Far Oaks Golf Course experience! Will be nice after Spring has sprung! Some of the nicer bunkers in the St. Louis area. Bunker just reworked with white fluffy sand. Looking forward to Spring at the Oaks!

Really nice place

Rained all weekend but place was fairly dry. Greens were soft and tough to read the speed but played well. No complaints for playing co dictions in December. Will be back!

Great Shape For November

The bunker restoration is coming close to the finish line. The new, white sand looks outstanding. Overall, the course is in great shape for early November. The $43 green fees is an excellent senior rate on a weekday - for this quality of course. However, it was $5 higher than a few weeks ago and we are in the off-season starting November 1.

The course needs to be aware of how unsightly certain holes look because of the lack of maintenance of excessive foliage in front of tees or greens. The worst is hole 12, where small trees in front of the tee can come into play on a drive and you have a hard time seeing the fairway. Other holes with foliage situations are holes 6 & 15. The is a beautiful course and this lack of maintenance makes the experience less memorable.

Lots of improvements but another very slow round

Another course I haven’t played in a while but glad I gave it another chance. They finally paved the parking lot, so that was a nice surprise! We got a very good weekday rate of less than $40.

The bunkers are being redone, and the new ones look outstanding. The sand was very nice, white and fluffy. Some of the tee boxes were just OK, and a couple of the fairways were pretty beat down. Greens were very good and had a nice roll.

The course was pretty crowded but we still played the front nine in less than two hours. However, the back nine was bad and took nearly three hours. Started to bog down at 12 and we had to wait on every shot on every shot after that. Holes 14 thru 17 took forever to play. The par-3 16th had four groups on it!

Some of the short holes were quite easy while a number of holes were very challenging. But the layout is fun to play so give it a try.

Great Course, Great Price

For the end of October and a greens fee of $38, there are not too many issues with playing Far Oaks. One of my favorite courses in the St. Louis Metro area. They aerated their greens early and the greens show no sign of any aeration holes. They were in good condition and had good speed.

The bunker restoration is still continuing. The holes that have the white sand – the holes look spectacular! The clubhouse felt that there were about 2 more weeks left. They have removed the two left/front bunkers on hole 2, made the left fairway bunker on hole 3 much smaller, removed the 2 left greenside bunkers on hole 10, looks like they are removing the left fairway bunkers on hole 12.

The biggest thing the course has to do is remove the vegetation/trees that block the beauty of these holes from the tee: 6, 12, 15 & 17.

Far Oaks

Challenging course. Unfortunately it was cart path only so play was very slow. Course conditions were very good especially since we had heavy rain the day before.
