rough spots
Several of the pins were stuck in the cup. So when I pulled the flagstick out, the cup came with it. Also, a lot of overgrowth around the edges of the cups made the hole appear much smaller and caused several putts to spin out.
Grand Maria
Great round. Course is in good condition. I was pleasantly surprised and I believe that you will be also.
Everything about this course was bad except for pace of play and the fact it was a beautiful day. Their pro shop is very small and all I needed was a glove and they did not have any. The person at the pro shop was was also rude. They were watering every other green at the course so you could never tell how to read any of the greens that day. None of the tee boxes or fairways were in good conditions. It was not expensive but you get what you pay for.
Great surprise
Hadn’t been at Grand Marias in years. Really improved.
Great Shape!
It's been 25 years since I played this golf course it was in great shape! It's a tough layout long par fours and small greens. The staff was very professional and courteous I will be back soon!
Looking for cheapest STL 18 hole worth playing - this isn’t it
I used to regularly play emerald greens golf course for $18 for 18 holes. Marais is $20 for 18 walking, so close to the same price, but nowhere near as good of a course.
Marais had poor drainage, so I was walking through puddles. The fairway iand rough were both entirely crabgrass. You couldn’t tell where one started and the other ended.
Now, for the good stuff, the layout was very nice, the staff was very nice, and the greens rolled very well. If it was close to me, I would consider going back, but it is kind of a distance from me so I will stick with my normal courses.
I’m basically going to go from Golf now up from the cheapest course to find the cheapest 18 that’s worth playing. I hope I don’t have to go up too far.
Saturday round
Greens were in excellent condition, but still soft. Fairwys were extremely dry due to lack of rain.
Someone got shot in the parking lot
I played this course because it was $20 on Saturday at noon. I knew it was probably not the nicest course and isn’t in a great area but figured what the heck how bad can it be. I was wrong. I show up 10 minutes early and check in. The guy in pro shop was sitting there watching tv half asleep and says “ya just grab a cart and head on out” never getting up. Once we’re on the course it’s in pretty rough shape. The tee boxes are nothing but crab grass and weeds. There’s no difference between the rough and the fairways and the greens were so over watered and soft. One green actually had standing water on it and it hasn’t rained in weeks. During the round we heard a loud boom noise. Thinking nothing of we started to hear a lot of sirens getting continually closer. After nine holes we see the ambulances are in the parking lot and come to find out someone was shot.
Need to Cut Greens and Fairways more often Fairway Grass was like first Cut of rough at most Local Courses

Worst course I have ever played
Tee boxes were awful, the fairway was like any other courses rough. The greens were bumpy and had a lot of dry patches. I would not recommend you paying to play here.
golf
The greens were in great shape. However some of the greens were crowded with geese and lots of geese poop....The fairways needed some TLC.
