Klein Creek Golf Club
About
Klein Creek Golf Club sprawls across acres of rolling prairieland in the western suburbs of Chicago. Trees frame the layout's gentle doglegs and tall prairie grasses border the fairways. It is a golf course that offers both beautiful scenery and a challenging round. Several lakes also dot the landscape, coming into play on almost every hole. The abundant water hazards are often coupled with spacious, intricately designed bunkers that are also usually paired with wood retaining walls. Contoured mounding frames the fairways and greens as well. Klein Creek Golf Club's layout is not easy by any means but it's fair, offering room for error on even the tougher holes with wide fairways and generous landing areas. There are a variety of approach options for the greens as well, providing great risk-reward opportunities.

Beautiful Course, Overactive Ranger
This course was in great shape and very fun features. Plenty of challenges and unique hole layouts. I would definitely play again but hope it’s not the same Ranger on duty. He stopped our group 3 separate times for lengthy lectures to pick up the pace of play. He made us feel very unwelcome as a foursome trying to keep up with a threesome ahead of us. We completed our round in 4hrs 5 mins, consistently on pace throughout.
Murphy’s Law
Storms blew through overnight. Internet was out so club house wasn’t able to check us in. Cart path only because of sloppy fairways. More thunderstorms at 12th hole so we were cut short. But, other than that this is a fun, challenging course. Always enjoy it!
Improvement but way too hot
Improvements have been dramatic, especially the bunkers! The last time I played here, we were told to simply take any ball which went into a bunker and drop it in the grass.
I experienced dehydration once and I have no desire to repeat the experience. As such we gave up the ghost after 13 holes. Rough day!.
Fair
Was extremely wet from the rain. Course was decent but they have a ton of GUR (grass under repair) spots on almost every single hole. No turn around grill or beverage cart. Had to go into clubhouse bar to order food/drinks. Overall was fine for the price but was expecting it to be a bit better
Decent Value improved over last play but not 4 stars...
Took a few years off from Klein Creek. It's improved (they ground up the cruddy bumpy cart paths but they are all dirt and still a little bumpy now) and eliminated a few sand traps and refreshed sand in some. Course is really tight and shoe horned in around houses and townhomes. Lots of water and sand hazards to avoid. A burly 135 slope from the white tees. Nice clubhouse w/locker showers but the orange whips are ridiculously overpriced - 1/2 star downgrade. Warm up is into nets located inconveniently across the street near the 18th green. You also have to use the bag drop....and stairs to navigate to get them loaded on cart. Another downgrade. The course is one tight challenge after another. A few breather holes but not many. Some green pad areas have really small targets and several pin positions appeared over "tucked" easy for many to short side themselves. Course was in much better shape since last played but unless you are on the top of your game it can be a long day. When Klein gets crowded and play gets slow it makes it even more difficult to get a flow going and you end up staring at trouble - easy to over think golf shots. 40 dollar fair value but it's not a course that beckons me to play it more than once a year. Just seems a bit tricked up/over hazarded....claustrophobic as well.....most won't get around with out losing at least a sleeve of balls. Recommend - 3.6-3.7 overall rating.
Nice changes
Had not played course in close to 5 years as it had been going downhill FAST. New ownership has made some nice changes for players of all levels. Played late afternoon and finished 18 in less than 3 hours.
Best change is that course has been made much more playable for the mid to high handicapper while still being a challenge for the better player.
Biggest drawback remains the lack of a practice range. Layout of first 3 holes presents a lot of issues. Not having the benefit of a warm-up magnifies them.
Nice changes at a fair price point.
good condition
The previous owner did nothing to attract golfers, sand traps were mud. New owner bringing it back to the way it was when it opened.
Nice Round
We had a very nice round at Klein Creek today. I was very impressed with the condition of the fairways and greens. The greens were fast and most of the traps were well-kept with a white coarse coral-type sand. There were some of the larger waste bunkers that were embarrassing to look at, and the tees need some work. The staff was great and very friendly. We were disappointed that there was no drink cart on a 87 degree day. The course was challenging, but not long. I would definitely come back.
Klein Creek Review
Excellent course but, they need to get rid of the waste bunkers! Good food and ambiance.
Nice course! ! .
First time playing this . Two water holes that come into play that I experienced . Enjoyed it and will be back .
