Klein Creek Golf Club
About
Klein Creek Golf Club sprawls across acres of rolling prairieland in the western suburbs of Chicago. Trees frame the layout's gentle doglegs and tall prairie grasses border the fairways. It is a golf course that offers both beautiful scenery and a challenging round. Several lakes also dot the landscape, coming into play on almost every hole. The abundant water hazards are often coupled with spacious, intricately designed bunkers that are also usually paired with wood retaining walls. Contoured mounding frames the fairways and greens as well. Klein Creek Golf Club's layout is not easy by any means but it's fair, offering room for error on even the tougher holes with wide fairways and generous landing areas. There are a variety of approach options for the greens as well, providing great risk-reward opportunities.

Tough course
You need a cart; the holes are far apart. But this is not a course for everyone. The traps are very deep and hard to get in and out of. Walking from your cart to the green can be difficult because of the steep hills. There are traps and water everywhere. Oh, and you have to be able to lug your heavy golf bag up and down steep stairs from the parking lot to the cart area below. You should be playing well or you won't enjoy this course. I was not and I am getting older so that's why I am criticizing it.
Great layout but…
Garbage baskets were overflowing on most tee boxes. There was no water at any hole. Most of the traps were unrated and had limited amounts of sand
Hot Deal great value
Klein has been changed to make it more playable they need to finish the job still some GIR spots. Greens were the slowest I've seen there in 30 years again adding to playability. I guess or they needed to be cut. Still a great track
Great well maintained course
Great course with some fun doglegs. Course is always in 5-star condition.
Good course for the money
Overall very nice course, tee boxes, fairways in great condition and Improving sand traps. Definitely would play again and recommend. Starter was great and discussed the old times back in the 60’s on the Southside!
The greens were slow, and bunkering was not consistent
Course layout was fantastic. There were either bunkers or waste areas not sure which that were basically unplayable. The green speed was also pretty slow. The staff is outstanding.
Klein creek
Course was an excellent shape. The greens remind her really fast and roll very well. Same traps around the greens are in great shape. It is a bonus I meant three nice people Who I truly enjoy playing with.
Klein Creek Still a Good Track
It was my first visit to the course in a couple of years, and I was pleased to see a venue that was in great shape and run well. The course was very wet after recent rains so we had a cart path only restriction. This slowed play but was understandable. The food and beverage options were very good, and the outside bar made it easy to get what we wanted.
Overall among the Best Values in Chicagoland
Seeing the ongoing transformation at Klein Creek over the past few years has been an eye opening experience in how a handful of interested people making solid, meaningful decisions and wise investments can make all the difference in a golf location.
The overall results are excellent to the point that I would today have to rank it among the best values in golf in all of Chicagoland.
Klein Creek delivers on everything that matters most to me as a golfer; Great conditions, Tee to Green, Fairways Bunkers and every cut that comes intio play.
I have always appreciated that this course offers serious challenges alternating with ample opportunities to score with good decision making and execution. This is what the game is all about.
Things less important to me continue to impress of the course with friendly, helpful staff all around and food which is well beyond average... that's not even fair.. everything I've tried has been excellent. Find is reasonably priced for the quality but drinks may cost more than your local social hangout. The atmosphere approaches upscale without being stuffy or pretentious. Bathrooms are clean which is always a plus.
If I must throw in some drawbacks it would have to be the lack of a full driving range and chipping/pitching practice areas are limited. There are some hitting bays available for warm-up which are appreciated, but I really do prefer my practice routine to include full flight under current conditions. Fortunately, and better than many courses, Klein Creek's practice greens very accurately reflect the conditions you'll find on the course and that's very important to me for expectations early in the round.
My opinion of Klein Creek has not always been positive. I wrote one vey bitter...I think a rare two-star review some years back when they just lost it all and it was an absolute mess and no fun to play. When I heard the course was under new independent ownership and not some mega golf course management company, I actually pityed the fool... but this is what makes this particular transformation so much more impressive. It had to take tremendous patience, vision, and a LOT of money to achieve and I do hope it's paying off.
My hat is off to all involved! Please keep up the great work! I play frequently and all around Chicagoland so I'm confident in stating that --at the price-- you're unlikely to find a much better value in the area for overall great golf. I look forward to playing here again soon!
Not so great condition
Weather has played a factor with the course not being in such good condition. The greens were is pretty good condition. Other than that, nothing really positive to say.
