South Shore Golf Club
About
South Shore Golf Club was formerly a private nine-hole course but now it is part of the Chicago Park District Golf collection, which features five other courses. Although it is seemingly out of the way, tucked in the southeast corner of the Chicago metro area, it is one of the most affordable rounds you'll find in the area. Through the stands of mature trees, golfers can catch glimpses of Lake Michigan. The carefully preserved landscape has earned the golf course recognition as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The par-33 layout features tree-lined fairways and small greens. It's a golf course that requires accuracy but it's not overly punishing for high handicappers. South Shore Golf Club is a great course if you're looking to get some short game practice or squeeze in a quick round.

Great value!
Not the nicest course in Chicago, but knew that going into the round so not docking any points there! And for $20? No brainer - this place was a steal. My fiancé is just learning to golf and this was a perfect spot to bring her. Holes weren’t too cramped, not much tree trouble, fairways are wide, grass was in pretty good shape for April (few bad patches here and there but no biggy), greens were pretty well maintained too. Bunkers are more like dirt traps than “sand traps” but only had to deal with that once in our round and again, for $20 you gotta adjust your expectations a bit. And the views of the city and lake were great! Will definitely be back.
Windy City Lady golfer
Staff is so friendly, play is relaxed, and better vistas cannot be imagined. Look to the East and it feels like you’re looking at the ocean. Look north and there is an amazing city view. Totally worth it for the more than reasonable price, and it’s so nice to be on a gold course with diverse players
South Shore
Great place to play and beautiful view of Lake Michigan
Awesome and quick course
I play here at least 1-2 times a week. Close to the house, best bang for your $$$, and easy course. Highly recommended
Good course ruined by exceptionally slow pace of play
No enforcement of pace of play. Rangers will straight up tell you that you didn’t pay enough money for them to stop groups from play 30min per hole scramble rounds.
Otherwise a decent course at a very reasonable rate. Off course amenities are bare bones but that’s ok for a city course.
Wish they would actually keep pace of play to at least 15min a hole and then this place would be a real gem
Nice and convenient
Easy to get to. Easy to play. No water traps but plenty of sand. Hole 6 has the best view of all local courses. Highly recommended.
Always a good time
My buddies and I dip off to hit 9 a few times a month during the day when work is slow. Easy in, easy out, and at a good pace. Amenities aren’t 5star but can’t beat the location, price, and staff friendliness. We lost a 5 iron and someone picked it up and found us. We love playing South Shore especially taking our routine 6th hole pic. Great times had by all.
