Greens were surprisingly good
Was surprised by how solid the greens were but the rest of the course was just alright and REALLY dry. A couple of the greens had serious dead patches but most were green and in good shape.
The fairways were very hard and baked out so drives really rolled out. Not much rough either but what was there was pretty bare in spots.
Also, some of the fairways are majorly tilted. So you could hit a tee shot that looked good but end up in a bad spot. Or a wayward ball could rollback into the fairway or back onto the green. For instance, on No. 1, I pulled my tee shot left, but due to the tilt of the fairway (and how dry it was) my ball ended up in the right rough.
No memorable holes but 13 has a fun tee shot over water. The finishing hole is a downhill par 3 with a porch overlooking the green. Also kind of embarrassing but after 9, we went to tee off on what we thought was No. 10, but we we actually almost hit on No. 17. Group coming off of 16 corrected us. Oops!
Slow pace- packed in
Too little time between start times, packed us in and no Marshall around to keep the pace going, thus over 5 hour round, and only saw beverage cart one time. Almost like no one around as far as workers. Won’t be back soon
Course was in great shape. The pace of play was horrible. Group in front of us thought they were pga tour caliber golfers. Would be nice if you could get a drink at the turn somehow.
An enjoyable course
This is a course I play quite a bit. It is close and very playable. Sometimes, I just want to go out for a round of golf that I won't feel like I got beat up for 18 holes. I agree with other reviews about being the go to course when others are cart path only and the carts need to be replaced. Also, they make great Bloody Mary's.
rough shape
some grass on tee boxes, fairways fair, greens beat to death 'no one ever repairs ball marks they look and roll terrible, carts? hahaha ghetto rides, didn't use cart paths they're so rutted and pock marked they will destroy carts and your spine, much much better close for just a few more bucks, avoid this dog tract
Go give Mystic Oaks in Waterloo a try -Greens are in super good shape. Cart? A new fleet was purchased in 2017, so they are certainly not that same condition carts you described . Cart paths good. Good fair pricing too ! 9-28-19 - DGB
The fairways have substantial slopes....and so do the greens.
There are lots of elevation changes on many holes. On doglegs have to hit well away from the dogleg. If you don't, the slope of the fairway can very well carry the ball into a position where it's difficult to advance the ball without turning and/or keeping it low. Fairways could use some improvement.
Greens had many undulations and reasonably fast. Similar to the fairways, if you're not careful around the green the ball can roll a long way from the cup. Greens were in very good condition.
Not a long course and seems to play less than posted yardage and many holes.
Lots of good scenic views
Play with someone who knows the course
Hadn't played the course in quite some time, so I wasn't familiar with the distances to attempt to hit shots on numerous holes. Number of blind type, dogleg shots. Course was in okay condition. Tee boxes needed some work. Overall, I would rather play Columbia Bridges, which is the sister course.
Up, down, rolling, water, slanted fairways and 90 degree doglegs provided a challenging course.
Course in good shape, fun to play. Club house was just an old house but the course was fun and the staff was great. Everything could be considered moderate. THe beautiful day and the scenery added to a challenging course. A good golf choice anytime.
Fun afternoon
gentleman that checked me in was very friendly, same guy that checked me in at Bridges on Sat. course in good condition. 17 was in rough shape. 18 is a neat par3, I liked the course, it was a nice day so it was pretty busy, but things moved along nicely
A good course to play when practicing course management and shot accuracy.
We play Columbia as our default, go-to course. When others are "cart path only", Columbia manages to allow carts on fairways. There is a wide variety of hole features with enough trees, water, narrowness, elevation changes and lengths of hole to challenge all abilities. They manage to keep the course in fairly good shape throughout the year..
Perhaps you should give Mystic Oaks in Waterloo a try . Greens are in great shape - really, really great shape 9-28-19 DGB
