Turtle Run Golf Club
About
Turtle Run Golf Club in Danville, Ill. is known throughout central Illinois for its beautifully maintained conditions, due in no small part to the hardworking grounds crew. The course offers four different tee lengths from Snapper, the longest at 6,771 yards, to the shortest at 5,260 yards, the Tortoise. In keeping with the theme, the other two tees are called Boxer and Softshell. The varying tees allow players of all skill levels to enjoy a challenging but fair game. The interesting mix of holes will have you using every club in your bag. Creeks and streams meander through Turtle Run Golf Club, coming into play on several holes. Mature trees frame the greens, which already demand accuracy to navigate the strategically placed bunkers. In addition to the golf course, there is a practice facility with a driving range and putting and chipping areas to work on your short game.

Play this course quite a bit, one of my favorites. The course is always in great playing condition. Would highly recommend.
Greens are great
The course is in good shape with a nice layout. It appears easier than it is because the greens are sneaky fast and difficult. Need to keep the ball on the correct side of the hole.
Pleasant round after storm
It's my first experience with this course. Got an unbelievable hot deal from golfnow.com I drove 40min from Champaign only counght in a thunderstorm. The staff was so thoughtfully loaded my set on cart and covered it with rain shield. Have to wait for the storm die in the bar I can oberserve the radar reflection on TV. There was glaring lightning and loud thunder followed. Thanks to the bar my life could have been saved!
When the rain finally faded away I flied my first tee. The fair way is just wide enough to hold my ball with a fade. I found no yardage post like in other courses, so with my P wedge I manuvouered the ball to front of the green. The green was not slowed by the rain. My chipping just leave the ball far back. The putting missed to the low side and a knock in gave me a bogie starting hole.
The following holes I had to negotiate with a secluded creek and scenic water pond. Then the sun broke the cloud when I noticed that every tee box were dedicated with bunch of flowers and a bench provided for rest. In a height of terrain I could please my eyes with several fair ways guarded by tall trees and bushes. Birds song were audible all the time while species of wild animal were in sight from time to time. Air was fresh with faint taste of grass and flower. I definitely visioned turtles sun bathing in the creek cutting through 10th fairway. Having sensed my nearing the bigger one poped head to my way while the young slipping into water.
The round was soon running to the end before I had sunk my only birdie far from the 13th fringe. I lost my direction on the 18th box facing wide terrain. The red flag I drove to was later proved the driving range indicator. I had to fly some tall trees to find fairway. An over calculated club sent the ball back of the green. The double bogie was the best I could close my game.
In conclusion I rated the course 4 star for its lovely course layout, beautiful scenic, rich wild life, friendly but speed green and nice staff. In my point of view, Just more legible marking on yardage and direction would upgrade the course to 5 star.
Centainly an unforgettable golf experience, I will recommend to friends and come back to play again.
Great Day of Golf
Myself and 2 buddies went out early on Saturday Morning and truly enjoyed a great round of golf.
We got screwed
Let me first say that the course was in great shape and overall a great track. The problem with this course is the management. We showed up for our tee time and had to wait 30 minutes past the tee times for a golf cart. It must have slipped their mind that the course championship was that morning. To make matters worse, there were three foursomes waiting to tee off when we made the turn. Appearantly the course we shut down so that they could do a wedding in front of the 10th tee box. After deciding to just play the front again instead of waiting, we finally finished 6 hours after we tee'd off. Would have a hard time recommending this place after that experience.
Excellent golf course everything was wonderful
Everything about turtle run was very good fun course and a fair challenge for any level of golfer
The course has great features
Friendly staff , very helpful, the course very clean well kept, new carts , a very unexpected surprise for your buck
A great golf course
Monday is a good day to play golf at Turtle Run. I booked in for 3 of us with golfnow. com. I walked into the pro shop 15 minutes earily and the attendent greated us. He looked the printed receipt over and said you are good to go on to the first tee right now. No need to wait for your tee time. We all live close by and play at several city courses, but this is one of the prettiest. You won't go wrong booking this course.
Value. Friendly.
Beautiful course in very good shape. Very friendly staff and players.
Golfing alone, two different foursomes invited me to play through and were very friendly.
18 holes in under 3 (yes, three) hours. Given, it was midday on a Monday.
Wish I lived closer would love to go back.
Great day!
The course was in great shape! Played 18 in about 3:15. The greens are rolling well! I recommend this course to anyone. Great bargain.
You need to play this course
Tough but, fair, you will use every club in your bag.
THIS COURSE HAS GREAT FEATURES
ENJOY PLAYING THIS COURSE VERY MUCH...COURSE IS KEPT UP VERY WELL
Smooth Ride
Even the graveled parts of the cart path were smooth and the electric carts were quiet. The greens gave balls the glide also. Some foursomes took themselves too seriously and slowed play.
Challenging course
Course are challenging and in excellent condition as well as well maintain. Staffs were all very helpfull even ground keeper..
nice tract
The wind was blowing about 20mph and the greens were very fast, but the sun was shining. We made a tee time an hour before. Pace was a little slow, but I don't usually play on week-ends so I can't compare fairly.
