Surprisingly good maintenance
A $16 hot deal (with fee) got me out to this track that I've long ignored for over a decade. Back then it was extremely doggy/poor conditions and it's just not the type of layout that beckons you to come back to it again and again. With a light tee sheet and proper rate of $30 or less (that's the max I'd ever ever pay to play this place)....but when crowded along with high handicappers no thanks....because this should be a course you can and should be able to play in well under 4 hours. They had just aerated the greens that morning (medium holes) but had also rolled and double cut them. Expecting the worst I was surprised that the greens still had extremely good speed and weren't as bumpy as anticipated. That being said when they do sand the greens and fill the holes in the next few days I expect greens won't be up to snuff until next season. Course is extremely tight in some areas - the 1st fairway might be 20 yards wide in the landing area. Lack of rain so it was playing hard and fast but the fairways had definition and decent grass. Rough was hit or miss but kept at a decent length. Sand traps are basically dust but they were maintained except for lazy golfers not raking. No range, water jugs on course, a really dated clubhouse and locker room facilities. The course itself just isn't that inspiring and mainly flat. The Par 4 3rd hole requires a huge draw tee shot and most times you're over 200 yards out or if you hit it through the fairway long or right you' could be blocked by the maintenance bldg. 6th and 8th holes are par 4 440 yard beasts. Several smaller greens and some have lost their size over the years so they are even smaller. The 9th and 16th holes have lost their back tee boxes so houses don't get peppered with errant tee shots. The back nine is short and sporty but the 17th is a solid par 4 requiring an accurate tee shot between towering oaks to a 20 yard wide fairway and nice inifinity uphill approach. All in all it's a place I'd recommend if you want to tune up your short iron game. The conditions again were surprisingly very good but when the area gets heavy rains this course does get pretty swampy. A solid 3 stars plus....I was expecting to give it less prior to play but can't.....they have put a lot of work into improving the conditions and there's something to be said about that absent of a less than inspiring routing and design.
A mess
First the good: course layout is pretty good/interesting and in darn good shape for late March. Greens were very well kept and rolled nicely for a heavy traffic public course.
The bad: pretty much everything else. Junky carts, not the sharpest staff, the pace of play was absurd (left after 4.5 hours with 4 holes to play and 3 group backup on every tee box.
The hardest thing about good affordable golf is the course. This course is pretty fun, but literally everything else here is a let down. Have little desire to return, I'd absolutely rather go literally anywhere else than come to a 5-6hr round mid day on a weekday at a decent not great course.
Stay Clear from here!
If you enjoy supporting terrible people with abusive management, this is your place. Just read reviews anywhere you can and you’ll see that Brian the owner will berate you any chance he gets. Save your time and frustration and go elsewhere. I’m not even sure how they are still in business.
Course is run down as is the entire operation.
Bottom of the barrel
An absolute classless course with classless employees and owners and most of all the course sucks!!
Was supposed to be refunded 3 days ago for my round which I booked on their website and the lady says take it up with GolfNow after I went directly thru their website. The guy who answered was arguing with me about a refund which was for a totally different person. But of clueless piece of trash ppl. Bottom of the barrel golf course.
GolfNow should end their partnership with them immediately!
Tee off on 10
I have no problem teeing off on 10 instead of 1. But, when we made the turn onto 1. Two four-somes didn't get the memo. It made for a long back(front) nine.
Management
There is a reason its always easy to get a tee time and its management. I have heard MANY TIMES the guys running it are dbags. After our round today it is confirmed. They act annoyed that your even playing there.
Good
Played this course for the first time yesterday. Play was super slow as they had a bunch of high school leagues out who were walking and playing really slow but besides that had a great round. Fairways are narrow but course was decently well kept and it was a fun course to play
Terribly slow 5 1/2 hr round,
Poorly managed on site, understaffed. No beverage cart on a sat after 130p? Slow turtle run and backups all over the back nine. Not worth the rate with other courses close by, don't waste your time!
Okay course
Nice layout and some interesting holes. Conditions were pretty good - greens rolled nicely and fairways were decent (not too many dry spots considering the lack of rain lately). Tee boxes were beat up. Course is not welcoming to people playing front tees. Most of the red tees were set up in fairways and did not have their own tee boxes. GPS has not been updated as it seems the 9's were flipped at some time. Beverage cart came by at a nice pace on a hot day so that was nice.
Good Challenging Course
Solid course. Par-4s over 440 yards present a challenge if you don’t get off the tee far enough.
Not what I expected at all
This course didn’t live up to my expectations at all. I expected a nice conditioned course and was very disappointed. Divots not filled in every fairway. Not enough rakes so bunkers were awful. Greens had pitch marks everywhere. Greens were slow. For the money I paid I was extremely disappointed in the course. The staff in the shop was rude and dismissive. I can’t believe the smell in the pro shop. I’d be embarrassed to own or work at this place. First and last time I’ll play here. Stay away. Way too many better courses around the area to play this place.
Overall great
Fun time, great course and in great shape. Only problems I had: 1. There wasn’t a single ranger. On a holiday nonetheless. The group ahead of us was VERY slow and they were a full hole behind the group ahead of them. We were waiting on them every single shot. It was a 5 hour round which is unacceptable for a 7:40am tee time. 2. Cart lady didn’t start until noon. On a holiday nonetheless. Missed opportunity there for more revenue.
