Stonewolf Golf Club
About
Stonewolf Golf Club is one of only four courses designed by Jack Nicklaus in Illinois and Missouri and it is also one of his only public access designs. Nicklaus created a shotmaker's layout with a variety of different holes. He also incorporated his signature style of bunkering, which you'll remember for their shape, design, and placement. This is not a golf course where you'll be able to just grip it and rip it. Thoughtful strategy and careful club selection off the tees are essential for doing well. Stonewolf Golf Club opens with a tough trio of holes, ending with a short par 4 that requires a forced carry to a severe green that features a tricky elevation change right in the middle of the surface. There is also a lateral hazard on the left, and five bunkers bordering the right side.

Very slow play to start round
Very slow play at the beginning of the round. They started everyone off on the 10 hole, probably the toughest hole to start on. Not sure why they did that.
Very slow
This time I booked a 4:09 tee time and there were 3 groups waiting to tee off at the first. We had to quit at hole 15 which took 4:15 min to get to. Had to wait on every shot 5-20 min depending.
Great course!
I live in west St. Louis county (Ballwin), and to play a course half as nice as Stonewolf out here you’d have to pay at least twice as much!
I played Crescent Farms today. It is a nice course too, but more expensive than Stonewolf and not as well-maintained (tho it is 20 min away as opposed to 40 min.)
Great layout and well-maintained! Has its difficult holes, but overall not super hard. I don’t play the tips tho. Decently wide fairways on most holes and usually enough rough before ob so that hookers and slicers can enjoy this course too. A few drivable greens as well as longer 4s and 5s for the big hitters.
Def recommend! It’s a little outta my price range unless I get a super good deal on a weekday afternoon… but I do look for them!
U can bet you’ll see me there if there’s a day that has a really good rate!

Nice course
Nice course, good layout. Only downside was paying a premium price and half the bunkers looked as if they hadn't been touched in weeks. Rock hard from rain and some had grass growing in them, up to 8 to 10 inches high. Would expect more from a $70 green fee.
No Carts
Got there at 10 on a Saturday morning for 11 49 tee timeThey were out of carts already. Couldn't get a cart and nobody seemed to care. Waited til 10 minutes before my round and still had no cart. Got frustrated and left. Went play across the street at Far Oaks Golf Club. They had enough carts to go around and they squeezed me in. Never back to stone wolf.
Great morning at Stonewolf
Super experience we love Stonewolf!

This course has a lot to offer at a great price
I’m just moved to the area three weeks ago and have been early awaiting my first round of golf. There are a handful of courses in my zip code and this was one of them. With no expectations going into this round, I was delighted with the overall experience. Facilities are good, pro shop stocked with good material, sizable practice putting green and driving range. My favorite aspect is the course layout. Simply put, it’s just fun! Course design is unique, interesting, and a fun test of your skills. Bunkers on the back 9 need some work, actually a lot of work, but the front 9 bunkers are very playable. Greens are smooth and roll nicely. Tee boxes are in good shape. Through Golf Now my round was $34- for that I’ll come back as often as possible!
Pevely in great condition
Course in fine shape. Greens in especially great shape , rough is manageable. Bunkers average. Overall course in fantastic shape. Zach said we will play again ASAP
Stone wolf
If I didn't have the hot deal price I would have been verydisappointed. This was the worst I've ever seen this course. And the concrete traps, thats right not sand. Stone Wolf use to be known for all the sand traps. This was a joke. You couldn't play out of them.
Very disappointed!!!
First Timer
First time playing at Stonewolf Golf Course and loved it! Early morning tee time and the club house was open and the young man working the counter was great. Asked him if there was any tips to playing the course and his reply was "Don't be afraid!" LOL The club house is nicely laid out and stocked. Beautiful building with a nice bar and dining area. The course was incredible and in great condition. Did not expect the elevation changes. Felt like I was playing in Northern Michigan again. Narrow fairways lots of trees & pines lining them. The fairways were in great condition as well as the greens. Nothing real flat about the greens. Had a few blind shots off the tee but that just made me think more about placing my shots. The only negative things I can think of would be some of the bunkers were not in the best of conditions and the golf cart was a little on the sluggish side. Specially when it came to climbing some of the hills I had to go up. Overall gorgeous course, great staff and would definitely go back again! This time would play two rounds in a day instead of just one. Thanks for a great time!
terrible Amenities
Course was in great condition. Trying to get food and beer after was a nightmare.
FYI - Far Oaks and Stonewolf share the same ownership group.
