Greens
It’s a good course to practice your irons with the only bad thing are the greens they are hard and all the balls will tool off the back side the grass is dead on greens and they just just way to hard of greens. Other then that it’s a great course for your money
Bad conditions
The fairway was like the rough. Found sand on the green, and 5/9 of the greens had debris all over them from trees. You can tell the grass was not kept up from all the lost balls found along the course right on the fairway. Some of our best shots, the ball was not able to be found.
The staff was very friendly.
Good course for beginners
My girlfriend is just starting to golf and this was a good course for her to learn on. Also it’s not bad if you already know how to play and want to practice your short game.
Worst course ever played
Tee boxes are horrible. Greens were patchy and spots with no grass at all. Roughs were easily 8 inches deep.
Quick 9 Hole
I've used the driving rang at PGN arcade next door for years but never played at this golf course. With that being said I had a dry day during this Covid Pandemic and needed to get some therapy on the golf course. This was a fun course to play mostly par 3's and one par 4 with nice distance variations on the par 3's. The course is fun and has a few hills making it a nice walk for the 9 hole. If you push it you probably can finish in just over an hours time. Course conditions were average or above the greens rolled faster than expected and the ruff was ruff. I enjoyed my round and believe it's a good value 9 hole course. I would play this course again
Only for the old or very young
Course is not groomed very well and has several low areas that flood or are very muddy. Should only be used for iron practice course and priced that way.
Terrible course
Worst course I've ever been to. Rough is like 6 inches long, sand trap was pretty much concrete. Tee boxes, greens, and fairways were weedy and overgrown. First time here (north course) and will be my last. There is no upkeep. Terrible experience. Dont waste your time and money
Hickory Hills GC needs work
Got a nice internet price to play, first time back at course in 30 years. heard had gone bad, and it was. There were a few huge holes on 9th tee halfway down you could have fallen in and killed yourself, not marked at all. We complained to a worker who said would fix.
Greens good condition, grass cuttings pretty long outside of fairways. It needs attention. They seem to make their money on the banquet facility right there which is confusing to enter the golf shop. Needs updating.
I thought it was a short course that was good for practicing when you’re alone or for beginners. I went mid week and it was quiet.
Don't waste your money
Worst course in the area, any ball off fairway is gone because it is poorly kept. Need major improvements.
Hickory Hills 9-hole course
We received a decent deal for two to play, so can't really complain. Suggestions would be to clean up greens with goose feces and mow a bit more frequently on tee boxes.
Poor-Excellent-Poor-Excellent...
Hopefully you can see the irony in this. OVERALL Rating is POOR but Pace of Play is EXCELLENT. Course Conditions were POOR but Staff Friendliness EXCELLENT. Sad day out on a perfect weather day. Of course pace was great because no other fools were on this course today. We had it to ourselves and by Hole 2 we knew why. The ironic part is that the staff curmudgeon that usually checks us in wasn't there today. Someone friendly, offering advice and walking carts, drinks, tees and other extras actually was. The downside was the condition of the course. Dandelions everywhere. Very poor condition on the greens. Seeds everywhere and no clean lines to putt. And the 4th Tee...embarrassing. It could be classified as a health hazard. No firm footing No trimmed grass. No place to put a tee and a line of houses to the left (for lefties) to deal with. We made it thru but to pay $10 which amounts to about $1.11 a hole is way too much for this place (today). I hope they have it fixed by the next time we try this place.
