Legendary Track a blast from the past
Awesome course layout. Friendly staff. Course needs TLC.
Bunkers weren’t playable. Fairways needed cutting. Still a must play as this was a true gem of an old country club.
Good Old Course. Not many left
Good course. Sand traps need work. Greens and Fairways were excellent. Put in some lights for night golf . The price is right. It’s byob, which is good. Great staff, good golf carts and green keepers are doing a fantastic job. Will play again.
No Go Calumet
Terrible amenities. No club house. Outdated Course which was over priced.
Fivesome
No starter (honor system??) Course let out a fivesome. 3 hrs to play front 9. Replayed front 9 (in 1&1:2 hrs) didn’t want another 3 hr nine. Bunkers were weed filled and hard as a rock.
Course decent, except for bunkers
I had expected to play a very nice course, and perhaps look into a membership, but this facility is not in very good shape. The staff members were great and much of the course was good, but the traps were full of weeds and the 9th green had large dead spots. The club house was surrounded by vegetation that was extremely overgrown and it looked abandoned, but there was a dumpster in the lot so maybe they're remodeling. Overall the place looked rough.
Solid course
Course was in good shape, despite all the heavy rains. Greens were the worst Ive ever seen them with pitch marks and spike marks, but Im attributing that to the weather and the inability to cut and roll them properly. Usually, they are in very good shape.
Biggest disappointment was that the driving range was closed, when we were told at arrival it was open.
Needs some TLC
Bunkers were from one extreme to the other. Some played soft and were well groomed. Some were so filled with
long weeds so you can't even see your ball. One was so low on sand that it was like gravel. Some tee boxes were in poor shape. The staff was pleasant. The kid that helped distribute the carts and get us started was really nice and insightful about the course. Not sure of his name, but younger guy with glasses. The entry to the club is an eyesore. Overgrown landscaping needs some work. Had a good experience at the course overall, but there are definitely areas of need.
Could be a gem!
Was honestly a bit disappointed with CCC. One of the only public Donald Ross designs and it is very poorly maintained these days. Most of the bunkers had weeds in them, there was trash in some of the ponds, and the excellent greens were extremely slow. Understood that it takes a lot of manpower and money to upkeep a golf course but they could easily charge more if the course was in better condition.
A Classic DR Layout
This course could easily get $100 a round if they just put some sand in the traps. They don’t do much maintenance on 122 year old Donald Ross classic golf course and now there’s weeds growing in the sand traps ( mostly mud). I can still feel the vibe of the place way back in the days when some of the best golfers alive played big money matches. It’s a real cheap price if you could get past the bunkers.
