Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Indiana (2016 #15)

Chllenging greens
Large undulating greens made for a challenge. We played after a few days of heavy rain and the majority of the course didn't even show it. We were alerted prior to tee off of the problem areas. Overall a very enjyable round.
Worth what ever it takes to play this course.
This Pete Dye course in Culver Indiana is worth the drive. Always in great condition, the two nines differ in style with the front more of a British Open style course with heather and lack of trees while the back nine is a little more traditional American style. There are plenty of tee choices so you can make the course as challenging as you desire. Highlights: the bunker on 17 and the elevated 18th green. One final thought - the friendliest staff in all of Northern Indiana.
True Gem in the Indiana Countryside
One of the best in this part of the state. The two 9's appear to the eye as completely different but both have those unmistakeable Pete Dye characteristics. The course is a bit out of the way but worth the trip.
Good course
This was a good course for the money. This is a Pete Dye design so somewhat challenging The bunkers were in very poor condition but the rest of the course was good. Greens were above average.
Unbelievable
Absolutely the finest Golf course in Northern Indiana. The tee boxes are awesome ... The fairways are awesome .... And the greens are impeccable. I love playing this course. I have never been disappointed ⛳
Great Value and Exceptional Layout
Played Mystic Hills 5-6 years ago and with the reduced rate on Golfnow, couldn't resist in going back. The only reason I hadn't been back was because it is about an hour and a half north of me. Played it from the back tees and it was very challenging but didn't it "beat you up" with the wide landing areas they provide.
The layout is a links style on the front 9 but the back 9 is more of a traditional rolling hill and tree lined layout. The fairways were nice and smooth with the rough being longer and challenging. The greens are fairly large and really rolling but very receptive to mid-long irons too. The day we played was after they had received a couple days of off and on rain and some places in the fairways were soft but that was something that they can't control. The traps hadn't been worked but with the rain and wet sand there isn't a lot they could have done with them.
I've seen earlier reviews complaining about the cart paths but I've been on better cart paths but I thought this was about the course and playing golf? We had a great time and if it was closer to me, I would play it more than I have. Go play it and enjoy the course.
Mystic Hills
Stay in the fairway and if not sure where the green is, shoot for the barber poles.
Golfnow price higher than course rate
Course is in pretty good shape. It does need some maintenance. Unlike the adults that typically run the pro shop, the young gal in the pro shop was acting like a jerk. GOLF NOW charges MORE than the golf course charges normally. GOLF NOW rate is $48 and you can just pay the pro shop $35 for 18 and cart. Why use GOLF NOW at all?
That's why you always call ahead and get information about the course before you head that way
Hidden Amongst the Corn Fields
This is an older Pete Dye course that needs some infrastructure improvement. All the cart paths are badly worn.
The course itself is a good test of golf from all five tee boxes,
The greens are very good and roll true despite lots of undulations.
The fairways are mostly in good shape with some bare spots.
There was no starter on this course and no Marshall.
The pace of play was too long because it was Sunday and the duffers were out in force.
The front nine plays like a links course and the back side
like a parkland course.
huge greens with a lot of slopes. of course pete dye and his bunkers. great layout
we loved the course and for 19 bucks on golfnow who could complain? us, we teed off and were on hole seven no body else on the course and then a shotgun scramble shows up and slows us down a bit. it wasn't that they slowed us down, because after the first two holes we really didn't wait too much on the groups infront of us. it was the fact that the site let us book a tee time knowing that a scramble was gonna start within an hour and a half of us teeing off.
What more can you say...a Pete Dye design
Wonderful golf layout. Dye did a very good job. Woman friendly. Challenging but not impossible. Deferred maintenance...cart paths, driving range tees, no trash containers, few ball washes, no on course water other than two coolers on front and back 9's w/ bottles of water on ice except front nine cooler empty and 85 degree weather...pay at the club house.
awesome course
For the money spent, this was the best course I've played. Felt like I was playing a PGA quality course. This was the first Pete Dye course I've played. I thought it was challenging but not too long. The rolling fairways and greens were amazing.
great course architecture
This is a great value.... it's also a great course for true golfers. The variety of holes, shots, etc is excellent. Greens role at a nice pace with plenty of speed. I shot rounds of 73, 74, and 78 the past 2 weeks and the 78 was at Mystic, having hit the ball very well, I used nearly every club in my bag. Great experience.
Challenging course, fast greens
Tee boxes and greens very well maintained. This course will challenge a golfer, strategically placed bunkers and undulations in fairways and greens. The course was very busy the day we went so there was a considerable amount of time spent waiting. Fairways were in good shape also. Cart path needs some attention.
Outstanding course
This is a very challenging course for a beginner. "Links" style front 9 with a more traditional back. Fairways are tight and bunkers are deep and plentiful. Greens are very demanding as well
The course is beautiful and well maintained. Some of the nicest fairways and greens I have seen. I'm going to stay away for a while but once may game gets better, this course is a must play. I recommend everyone in the area play here if you are up for a challenge.
Worth the Trip from Chicago
Best $20 I’ve ever spent on golf in my life. This course is well worth a day trip from the Chicago area and if you live near the course consider yourself lucky to be so close to a great course. From the time we walked into the pro shop till we left everything was great. For the first few holes I could not get over the green fees we paid, a course like this in the Chicago Area would be an easy $100.
Layout out was great, overall the course was very well maintained just like a Pete Dye course should be.
Mystic hills is a nice public golf course!
Being from Ohio where there are a few Pete dye courses in the area , I knew the layout would be open with some fun challenges along the way! The staff was amazing, and liked the idea of popping a balloon for a free gift for food, drinks and or what I received ..... A Pete dye scull and bones divot tool! I have NEVER played anywhere where the course was inclined to offer the guest something for free.....GREAT ADDED TOUCH!:) The greens need a little attention along with the cart paths, but other than that no complaints! A friend of mine and I stopped on our way from Ohio to Chicago for a conference and if we head that way again I WILL stop back and play this course again!
Great Course
Great course. I plan to visit this course again. Only drawback to first time players is no detailed map on scorecard w/ several blind tee shots.
Great Course Great Staff
Go Play it, You will get your moneys worth, some great holes
Great challenge, some very tough holes
Highly recommend this course. Beautiful layout and nice challenge. It is a special treat to play here get lost in the scenery and beautiful countryside. Great day of golf.
