Ruffled Feathers Golf Club
About
Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont is conveniently situated just a half hour outside downtown Chicago. Pete Dye and his son P.B. collaborated to design the course, making it the only Dye design in the Chicago area. A well thought-out strategy will be greatly rewarded on this challenging layout and bad shots made without any thought will be severely punished. This is definitely not a golf course where you can just grip it and rip it. The fairways are fairly straight and forgiving, but most of the approach shots play to tricky elevated greens. There are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Ruffled Feathers Golf Club's par 3s have a reputation for being particularly challenging. But depending on how windy it is, the final hole might present the most formidable challenge.

Not worth the money
RF treads off the Pete Dye name and that’s about it. Unfortunate because the bones of the course are great. But the condition of the fairways, greens, and bunkers consistently leaves a lot to be desired. Inconsistency and/or neglect are the only ways to describe. Simply not worth the money.
Not worth the money
For the price of this course I had high hopes and they were not met. This is my first review but the price point in 30-50% too high. The course is dry and not well maintained. The bunkers aren’t in great shape.
Great course, but work needed
Great layout that is a lot of fun and includes a good balance of distance and target golf. Tee boxes need a lot of work and greens weren't running completely smooth. Fairways we're in good condition and rough is long, so keep it in the fairway to score.
Ruffled feathers is a great layout but?
Ruffled Feathers used to be a super nice course and manicured to the tee but it now appears that it is looking rundown and drab. Some of the bunkers were full of water the greens were pretty pitted up with ball marks and it’s just not up to what I remember it being years ago. I played twilight so it only cost $44 and that’s about all that’s worth at this time. At one point they used to charge $125 and it would include a lunch and it was well worth it but now with the course conditions along with the cart paths being all full of potholes and run down it’s appears that it’s gone down quite a bit since years ago.
Great Layout, Condition Lacking
The tee boxes, greens and fairways were not well taken care of. The layout is great and challenging. Staff was very friendly and knew what they were doing. I’m
Ruffled
Course was in nice shape but question set up for a holiday weekend - example - 8th hole set up as 220 yard par three - there was a two group log jam there; 2:50 minutes to play front nine was brutally long. And tenth tee was backed up as well. Bailed out after nine - could not stomach a 6 hour round of golf.
SLOW!!!!
The pace was so slow, slower than the 1st time I golfed here that I will never return. Granted it was Father’s Day but I didn’t see a single Ranger on the course making sure the pace was kept up. I even called the clubhouse and they said they would send a ranger out. I never saw anyone come by.
The tee boxes were beat up pretty good with no signs of maintenance and the greens lacked any upkeep as well. For $110 I expect far better conditions
Course needs some love
This will always be one of my favorites in Chicagoland but it’s really not getting the care it needs from the team. Just a few years ago the conditions were impeccable always; now tee boxes are abused, greens are hard and fast but need some love, and goose poop everywhere.
Not worth the hype.
Only One cart girl today which we haven’t seen and we’re on our replay of 18 already! The restaurant at the clubhouse isn’t open and the grill at the turn at 11am didn’t even have any hot food available. The bartender at the turn is a retired teacher and the mom of an employee at the pro shop. She has no clue how to make any cocktails. If you miss a fairway you’ll be hunting for your ball forever and forced to drop. I’ve never lost so many balls on a course before. Not worth $115 a round. Very disappointed with my first experience here at a top 20 rated course
Where is the ranger??
5 hour round for a twosome is BRUTAL, especially when starting at 0745 AM...The rangers need to get on the ball and move people along.
Course just isnt in good shape.
Must be hard to get mowers, landscrapers, etc. All the rough needed mowing, virtually everything else needed weed wacking, etc. Tees need some work. I must have fixed 6 ball marks on every green. The course could be great, just needs some maintanence.
