Old Oak Country Club
About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

Slow play
Not fun when you have to wait for three groups to TR each hole you finish I don’t understand how that it’s happened to me a couple times at this course not planning on going back
Never disappointed
Beautiful track. Well manicured. Plenty of challenge.
Never on a Wednesday or a Thursday
The teatime by golf now and the golf course, was perfect for my work schedule for that day.
Golf now and the golf course never said about an 80 person golf league prior to the tee off..
The starter did his best for pace of play, but the lead members were very diss, considerate to anyone golfing behind them, including their own members…
Even during normal play, the golf course should’ve notified it’s cart personnel for beverages to not stay in the middle of the fairway and serve the league!
Unfortunately, we were only able to golf nine holes because of the exaggerated back up and wait time,
The staff tried to move play, but the members were inconsiderate. Truly a shame a good price, but never during the week
Ridiculous pace
Pace of play was atrocious, I’ll probably never come back. We played the first 9, and it took 3 hours, then we left. They booked us right behind a 61+ league.
Great condition but pace of play
Course was in great shape, but there wasn’t any ranger out encouraging pace of place, and we were waiting on a twosome.
Greedy Overbooking
I will NEVER understand how a golf course can have TWO league nights and think its okay to schedule t times every 10 minutes. Most golf courses will just block off t times when they have league nights this course just packs in as many people as possible. Course was in great condition but we waited to play every hole. With a line of 4 foursomes to still tee off. It was so sad to see they only care about the money and not the experience. All they have to do is change the start time for t times to 12-15 minutes instead of every 10 minutes.
Best Greens Around!
I had a lot of fun playing Old Oak. I played horribly, but that had nothing to do with the course. I found it to be in great shape even with the lack of rain as of late. The most surprising part to me was how well they’ve kept their greens. They were moving with good pace and free of a lot of blemishes you’d find at a comparable course.
Fill in the sand traps
The course has a very challenging layout, which is well groomed, except for the numerous bunkers around the course. The only bunker that has new sand is the one you can see from 143rd St. and coincidentally is the 18th hole. The others are unplayable it’s like hitting out of concrete. After five holes, our group decided to lift and replace out of the bunkers because they were like hitting out of a Walmart parking lot. The greens are super fast and everything slopes from back to front in one instance on number 10. I believe one of our players did not even touch his ball at the top of the green, and it ran down to within 2 feet of the cup. They need to make the greens more playable because it was not a fun round. When golf for your foursome becomes work and isn’t fun that is where I draw the line and would rather spend my money elsewhere.
Cart Path Only
Slowest round of golf I think I’ve ever played. Course was in pretty good condition for early April. Always enjoy this course, but significantly better/different when the trees have their leaves.
Playing in December
Course was in great shape, especially for December. Very nice that virtually all leaves were somehow removed. It was cold and windy but not bad for December golf in Chicagoland.
Late fall played 18
Played on Nov 10th beautiful day and course was in great shape . Played with two older ladies who were amazing golfers and kept the pace of play speed up with group in front . Greens were in great shape and most leaves cleaned from fairways and greens
