Old Oak Country Club
About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

Disappointing
In the past for many years i been playing Old Oak, love the layout is a challenge course, beautiful in summer time, but yesterday was those time that you never want to see it or experience it! I know it’s fall and the threes are getting loose but it was brutal, friendly staff like always, nothing extra nothing less, people working in the tee boxes for the winter time which is time I get it anyway the greens was with marks all over the place and for me to pay at this point of the season $62 ? Isn’t worth the money something happens with that my handicap don’t work anymore with the course at this time saying that old oak it’s been closed for those handicappers since oct 30! I don’t say never come again but i this point of the season if you want to ride for $62 dls! In this Cindy that’s except to you!
Great Course but bunkers need better sand
Overall this is a great course that has nice practice facilities. Course was in good condition but the bunker sand was very hard. Really doesn’t bother me much as I’ll just take the ball out but it may bother some.
Fall golf
The golfers shouldn't have to walk upstairs to buy some water. It should be available downstairs with the cashier.
Other than that, it was great. The practice area is big - range, chipping, and putting.
We didn't get to finish 18, but we started late. No problem!
Brought my beach towel
Lots of sand traps, but still a nice course for those who love the challenge. It’s later in the year so a couple rough spots on greens are to be expected.
Less than I expected
Course was just OK. Tees and fairways were average to good. Most greens in good shape, traps were poor (little sand). Cards had no GPS. Big issue for me, I had to give them a $5 deposit on cart key and forgot to go back and get it. I live 50 min. from course and probably will never get that back.
Looking for a new place to play
Always looking for a new place to play. Not long, but need to put the ball in the correct side or pay the price. Greens rolled nice. Some brutal pin placements.
Course and Staff
The course was in very good shape and the staff was outstanding.thanks really enjoyed my golfing
Rock hard everywhere!
The entire course was rock hard. Greens were beat up and the pins did not look like they had been moved in weeks. Bunkers were full of dirt and rocks bigger then a golf ball, even after lift, rake and place it still felt like I was hitting off of concrete. This is the worst i've ever seen the course and i've been playing it 4-5 times a year for the last 13 years because it's usually in great shape and it's close to home. The entire course needs water asap... Below average condition!
