Nettle Creek Golf Course in Morris, Ill. offers one of the most unique golfing experiences in southwest Chicagoland. The course has a links-style layout set in a beautiful prairie environment abundant with wildlife, a non-traditional setting for links golf. The championship layout features generous fairways and large, undulating greens flanked with cavernous, free-slowing sand traps. You won't find many trees on Nettle Creek's rolling terrain but colorful wildflowers and native grasses frame all of the holes. In addition to several strategically placed bunkers, water comes into play frequently in the form of ponds and wetlands. There are ample risk-reward opportunities that will test your shot-making skills. You may find that you have to use every club in your bag. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's still forgiving enough for players of any skill level to enjoy.

November golf
Over all the course was in great condition playing in November. Staff did a great job clearing the fairway and greens of as many leaves as possible. Fairway, greens, & tee boxes were in good shape. The only downside was it was so late in the year there really were no beverages and food. Course was nice and challenging especially on a breezy day.

Course is a pretty nice track, nicely maintained. Greens putted true. Long drive to get there for me, but enjoyed the course.
Excellent
Great course! Some holes that are very pleasing to the eye, and some very challenging holes. Fairways for the most part were excellent and the greens were perfect. Highly recommend!

Some challenging. 2 is challenging due to 2 carries over water
Worth the drive!
Very nice course. It was worth the 35 mile trip for a good round of golf. Didn't play well, but it was still fun.
This course is consistently in good shape
Greens and fairways were in great shape. Bunkers left a lot to be desired as they were very inconsistent for hard sand versus hard dirt with little sand in spots and some rocks. Other than bunkers was a great day for the wife and I. Played here many times and this was the 1st time pace a play was slow. 5some in front of us. Course is one of my favorites in the area.
Great find
Course is a bit far in the sticks, but well worth the drive. Glad we found it and will be playing it again, great deal at Golf Now.
good course for the money
Good easy course for the money. Friendly staff, except for the ranger. He drove by a few times bu t never stopped to say hello or ask if everything wa good. All it takes is a drive by hhello.

Very good layout but the place is really getting run down by a lack of maintenance on and around the course.
Greens
Greens make the course for me and these putt great. Didn't lose a ball and that is saying something on this track. Tee shot and second shot on 11 will make you squirm!
Nice place.
I really like Nettle Creek. Good layout and greens. The bunkers do not have much sand. Too many fivesomes out on the course. Play came to a halt after nine. I did see a ranger but a guess its ok to have groups of five holding up the course.
Good value
Booking through golf now got a good rate. The fairways and greens are in nice condition. Due to all the rain a lot of sand washed out of the bunkers. No sand but around the lip of the bunkers. Also there were weeds in some areas of the rough. Played a twosome at 9 am on a Sunday and didn't have to wait on any shots. Completed the round in under 3 1/2.
Challenging
Everything was excellent but the course conditions, and that was due to the extreme weather from the winter and the excessive rainfall this spring, but still rated good. It will get better. This course is a test of will.....will you take a chance or won't you. Cool place to golf. Friendly staff and great rangers and cart personnel.
Nice Shape
Play this course 3-4 times a year. Always in good shape. Got a hot deal on golf now. Wide open but plays long, especially if wind is blowing.

Nettle is a nice stand-by for low priced play. Too soon to tell if this year's conditions will be up to Par out in Morris.
Early round first of the year
It was nice the course was open and it was a nice day. We got really lucky as we were on a 5 hour pace until the threesome in front of us who has never played golf let us go by. The copurse was still not open as none of the signs on where to go were up and it was a little difficult trying to figure some holes out. It was nice to get out and enjoy a day of golf so early in the year. It is in a subdivision and one of the people who live there like to hit golf balls onto the course while you are playing from his yard with his son. It was confusing when you turned the corner and there were 6 golf balls in the fairway and he starts yelling to make sure you dont take his ball. we will go back i just hope they monitor the play more in the future.

Liked it so much we played it twice
Pace of play was great. Our threesome finished the first 18 in under 4 hours. The course was very well maintained. The greens were in great shape. Holes 2 and 15 were very memorable. Couldn't beat the value either. Can't wait to go back.
Beautifully maintained fun course
Nettle Creek has a nice layout and is well maintained. It's a typical prairee course with few trees and rolling terrain.
A jewel just far enough away and easy to get to
We were able to start right away a bit before our scheduled time. As always the first two holes were a challenge but may be one of the reasons we will keep coming back.
