Course was in good condition but some of the greens are rough. Lots of debits that were not previously fix. Play was slow.
Good Pulbic Golf Course
Staff was professional, for a public county golf the price is NOT reasonable
It is a golf course that is cheap and easy to play.
The course is somewhat short, the tee ground is hard, and the fairways are poorly maintained.
DISASTER
After hole 6 they had a grounds keeper guy turning on the sprinklers at every hole right before we got there including while we were teeing off. Literally every hole after the 6th. So every second shot onto the green or put we were landing in water logged greens, literally looked like it rained for days and there were puddles everywhere, we couldn’t putt and the holes were filled with water almost to the top. I think it’s ridiculous when you’re paying close to $60 per person for 18 holes. Then when I scheduled the day for me and a friend it only said there was walking and when I called I was told we could pay for a cart when we got there no problem and it would be $18 total, but when we got there they said $18 per person for the carts….honestly it was a disaster I don’t think I will be going back.
Great Forest Preserve course
I’m usually at the south suburban forest preserve courses so I don’t get up this one as much as I’d like but it’s a really good one. I’ve only played it twice but both times were enjoyable rounds and it checks every box I’d want checked. The tee offs on #10, #17 #18 are tough ones.
Short but sweet
Nice course in nice shape and isolated from civilization in the forest preserve. It is short, 5700 or so, but still can be challenging. I recommend it as you long as you appreciate it for what it is. Not a tournament course going to host PGA anytime soon, but a very pleasant, fun and interesting course.
Fun course, slow play
The course was a lot of fun to play, in great shape and I thought it was well worth the money. Of all the forest preserve courses I’ve played, this one is by far is the most wooded in my opinion. My only gripe was the place of play was really bad, worse than normal on the front 9 but it had cleared up some on the back. The people I was paired with were all really nice as well and I’d absolutely come back here.
The tee boxes and fairways can be rough at times greens are in decent shape overall still not too bad for the price
SLOW Pace.
I have played Chick Evan twice this year, both rounds were unbearably slow. Waiting for multiple groups on every tee box.
The course itself is ok. Not in great shape, but I've certainly seen worse. Tee boxes could use some love. Fairways on some holes are pretty dried out.
Probably won't play here again this year.
Painfully Slow - Overbooked and Under Attended
There have been multiple times that I’ve played this course in the last two years and it is consistently backed up without a ranger in sight.
The course would be an absolute joy but unfortunately they enjoy overbooking.
While I consider myself to be a patient player, 5 + hours plus for a course this size is insane.
Do better! 🙂
