Great Course - wrong price?
Course was in great condition. Windy day helped protect the links style layout. Pin positions were challenging but fair. My playing partner arrived before I did and paid for the round. Cost was much more than Golf Now price. A littler surprised by that.
Wide fairways pretty good greens
Overall a pretty good golf experience. The layout has some variety and the greens rolled at a good speed. The fairways are a little shaggy but I’ve played worse. When I play a course I’ve never played before I always ask myself would I go back. I’ll say yes
My Augusta National
This course is just fun! Yes it is wide open which makes it not the most challenging but it is still an average length course and you still have to make your putts. Every hole is birdieable but there are still bunkers and water that could punish you. The greens roll perfectly fine, and the fairways are always in great condition. This is my favorite course to play.
B+ value (33$ weekday AM)
Fairways and rough was in good condition for this point in season. The greens we really true and were fast.
This layout is very open if you want to be hitting a lot of driver with forgiving fairways. A lot of blind shots, which makes the course tonight. And there are also a good amount of bunkers and water.
Walked, took 3:25. Got tired due to many hills. Great exercise, but definitely affected our playing the last three holes.
Great value, never played traditional. Hope to get out there soon
Great course. Excellent value!
This course has become one of my go to courses in the area. The prairie course in particular. The course is currently in fantastic shape. The pace of play on a Sunday afternoon was very good. Finished in four hours exactly. For the money you can’t beat it around the area.
Good day
Tough pin placements, love to smack the guy who put em in. But he was probably just having a bad morning
Good shape, greens are tough enough without placing the cups on humps.
Great value
Course is in great shape. Father loved it so much he bought a hat and he wants to play each time he visits from Pittsburgh
Good time on fun muni
Good round of golf on sporty track. Course is in great condition
Enjoyable round with moderate challenges.
Links style course with moderate challenges. Pretty in the Fall. Interesting topography.
Countryside Golf Club (Prairie)
The Good: Playable Bob Lohmann design is considered the "Links" style course of the 36 holes at this north Chicago suburb municipal. Decent variety of holes and enough challenge for all skill levels. Good course conditions and very nice greens that are slick and putt well. Above average driving range and fair putting green. While no GPS, there are plenty of yardage markers throughout the course. Pretty good value at just over $50 for weekend peak season.
The Bad: The Par 5's are fairly unmemorable. Clubhouse and dining area are to be desired. Limited on-course amenities and mediocre service at best. Lack of short game and bunker area. No GPS is a bummer.
The Verdict: Countryside Prairie course is an average Chicago suburb course that won't break the bank. Enough visual appeal and challenge for an enjoyable round. Nearby Steeple Chase is a better all-around experience.
Best Hole: The Par 4 12th requires a long drive and a precise approach to a difficult green guarded by a pond.
Pleased with the condition of this course
Enjoyed playing 18 holes. Gambled on the weather forecast, and I am glad that I did. Turned out to be a good weather day for golf other than the wind making it very challenging.
Good condition for the amount of play this course gets
My buddy told me that this place was a goat ranch, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Basically you can hit it anywhere and not be in trouble. A sprayers paradise.
As the title suggests, the course is in nice condition considering the amount of play it gets. Never to be confused with a country club, it is a reasonably nice public course.
The beer was cheap. Which is a good thing.
Just one complaint
I play this course a lot and have always considered it to be a good value for what you get but I do have one complaint. They don't make any handicapped exceptions for when they are cart path only, and they do it quite a bit. I had to cancel twice so far this year because they don't grant any blue flag exceptions to their cart path only policy. I have a bad hip that really won't allow me to walk too much and have even more problems when it is hilly around tees and greens.
I talked to their superintendent and he says that granting any exceptions just leads to everyone ignoring the rule. I would think that the handicapped laws would force them to make some accomodations but they don't .
The course has a very friendly but challenging layout
The course has just enough water and sand traps to keep you focused.. If you can ignore the serene and beautiful back drop of the prairie course, then you have no pulse .. Play well!
countryside, tridational
very nice course with friendly staffs and well maintained course.
Great Place To Play A Round
Course was in great condition, I played with some people who had played the course before. That made it very easy to navigate. Had one of my best rounds of the season sofar. Will definitely be back to play it again. Staff was very friendly which made for a great experience.
very happy
Loved it, wide open! When we went it was extremely windy felt it more because it's wide open
